Bringing LHD cars to the UK?
With the quid at an all time low?
Doesn't sound like an amaze idea...
Or do you mean finding a LHD car here at taking it to Deutschland? Unfortunately most of them have already gone back over the last few years so they're tough to find.

You make a very good point.
The quid'll pick up again. In a decade or so.

My Audi runs well enough but the last couple of services they've said the clutch might be on it's way out, the head gasket needs doing (not essential at the moment) and I can hear a whiring, possibly the quattro system. Never had a warranty but just got a quote for £280 for the year. Anyone else got an aftermarket warranty? Wonder if that would pay for itself many times over if all these things go soonish. Would a warranty company require work to be essential or could I claim based on advisories?

Get me. Today I drove a car from the 40s (mg tc), a car from the 50s (tr3), the 60s (tr4a) and the 70s (mgb)
I really want an old timer.

Seems like wiring harness on my w124 might be on it's way out... Just been reading up on it and I have quite a few of the tell tale signs. Gonna take a proper look tomorrow and see how bad it is.
If it's bad, I'm not even sure it's worth fixing tbh, seems like it's £500+ just for parts so it's a keep-the-car-for-ages kinda decision

Fuck yeah!

Loss of power in the wet, Ie after heavy rainfall, but only for a split second. Hardly any issues in the dry.
Idle is high at random occasions, sets on 1200-1500 but is 'fixed' with a bip on the throttle.
What issues did you have?
That, and that my car is the perfect age for it, apparently 93-95 was the worst years, and mines a 95Gonna try and take a proper look today. Haven't noticed and cracked cables before, but can't say I've been looking for it either
What issues did you have?

How much is an aftermarket loom?
-
• #29041
Is yours an M104 3.2 or 2.8? Cos AFAIK those are the only ones with the dodgy loom.
You can buy just the replacement section.

It's a m111.960
Some sites says it's just the m104 that has it, some sites says all engines from 93-95
As most sources are American, the m111 might left out as it never made it to the American market?
Had a proper look today and couldn't find a single dry cable, so doubt that's the issue.
What I did find though was a rusted ignition lead end, the metal part that clips on to the spark plug, so think that might be the culprit?

Photos of the ignition lead - time for a new one you think?

Picked up my 190E and gave it a quick scrub this weekend. Rolled fine so no binding brakes etc. Looks very solid underneath. Haven't tried anything more yet but I will keep the forum posted.

Has anyone got any experience with the old jellymould Audi TT. My mother in law's car failed it's MOT this weekend after 190k miles, which I thought was pretty good for a little turbo charged petrol engine. She would love another one. Before having the audi she never really enjoyed driving and said this is now one of her real life pleaures, so I'm going to check this out tomorrow. It's 5 years younger and looks to be in good nick.
Other than the timing belt and handbrake (the housing is fixed so you can't adjust) I'm not sure what else I should be looking at other than the normal things. Does anyone know of any big problems I should be paying attention to?
Any other type of car I should be looking at that will be the same amount of fun? MX-5 came to mind, but she wants to be able to use the back seat.

Did the first long trip in the E39 this weekend down to Weymouth and back. Cruised at triple figures very comfortably and people move the fuck out of your way even when you're a long way off, not sure why, but it's definitely a boon. It's wafty and quite relaxed, yet when chasing my mate through some Dorest lanes in his Fabia VRS, I was able to keep up through the corners.
It's just dog slow when accelerating if I'm not brutal with the kickdown button.

Max AC button got hammered this weekend. Black leather certainly heats up.

Weird innit. Big German marques seem to make peeps pay attention.

These appeal to me for gentle country cruising. I know nothing about them - how are they regarded?
