  • @laner did you ride south of of Skopje?

Anyone ridden south of Skopje? Wanted to get some infos.

  • "Some of Kosovo was OK, it was just the area around Prishtina and also between Prishtina and Skopje that was so bad."

"Kosovo seemed OK if a bit beaten up until I got to Prishtina. The road from Prishtina to Skopje was super dangerous, one one the scariest I have ever been on. Narrow, rough and very, very busy. There are also few places to eat anything decent in Kosovo. I didn't enjoy it. There were big convoys of cars going and high speed and honking all the time. There were also numerous dead dogs in the road. It was not pleasant."

This is more north of where I am riding (and probably you) so it might not be relevant just thought I'd mention.

Sounds like anywhere in the Balkans.

  • I guess everyone's experience is different but I loved Kosovo including the food. I found the traffic generally okay (as skinny say, by Balkan standards) and the E65 headed south to Skopje (I joined from the R116) when I travelled it was glorious. Smooth, downhill with nice bridges and tunnels to the border. I will admit that it was less plesant after the border but I think I remember something resembling a hard shorlder from the border to Skopje.
