• Overall I've always liked DavidĀ². Particularly as he's had the courage of his conviction.

But yes, for such a strong libitarian it seems strange to not support LGBT rights. I don't think capital punishment is necessarily anti-libitarian though.

  • He's going to be in a fight with May if she keeps going down this wanting to watch all computer traffic path..

I'm baffled how anyone with half a brain can support capital punishment after all the issues in the USA. "ow we made a mistake, wasn't him/her, well here's an extra nice gravestone" :P

He'll have fun in NI with our manic "themmuns" politicians. Maybe he will listen to social issues too, Villiers was a safety glass hammer when it came to that.

  • I guess the argument runs that with advances in DNA technology there are cases where you can say with certainty that the crime was committed.

Regardless of a miscarriage of justice you can still hold the view that on principle there are some crimes that are so serious that to protect society and give society a sense of retribution / justice, capital punishment is the only just solution.

But yes, I agree that regardless of any moral or political position the simple fact that the state does gets it wrong as well as not applying the rules equally basically makes it a non-starter as a serious element of justice policy.
