  • Just got back from the pub... #wtafigo

  • What a pussy. When I rode up Ventoux I didn't have to walk any of it.

  • You do need to carry your bike at the finish line at track cycling events as well.

  • At least Sagan is in green. LOL

  • I'm sure the internet will soon get a video from a nearby spectator showing the exact cause of the moto stopping abruptly.

  • Not sure but it's going to depend on the UCI and/or race organiser rules. For instance, in a CX race you'd be DQd if you crossed without a bike. Mind you, there aren't many motos in CX.

  • Just noticed his custom shoes with world champ stripes

  • American Flyers finishes with a run over the line. Not helpfull though
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088707/

  • Motorbike running into a spectator even at relatively slow speeds could do some serious damage, sure the organisers would want to avoid that...also natural reaction for a rider to stop if human in front regardless of racers behind

Of course. This isn't an open road though. The road is closed for a race with motos flying up ahead to remind anyone. After that if you step out into race traffic it's (literally) on your head.

I wonder if someone fell into the road?

    Sad times.

  • If it were my call, I'd take the times at the km marker prior to the crash.

How far did Froome actually run? Either way, I reckon he deserves the red numbers for that alone.

  • Despite the maillot jaune attacking, should Quintana et all have slowed/stopped for those involved instead of passing?...

  • If it were my call, I'd take the times at the km marker prior to the crash.

Do they measure times there? And that's going to be unfair to those who were making time up.

    I'd call it an omnishambles.

  • Whilst I understand the view that audience needs to take responsibility for their action, organisers don't want to have to deal with the shit show that would follow crowd member getting carted off in an ambulance after being hit by a moto.

Also motos are probably being extra wary at the moment given the seasons events...only problem is its again hurt a rider rather than the crowd

  • No. Because they would have little idea what was going on.

  • I would imagine the Dimension Data tracking should make it doable although not to a fraction of a second

  • The DD data was absolutely fucking shit last year, so I wouldn't put money on it.

  • Was DD working? Eurosport Sport they were having problems with data today

  • Wind blowing away all the laser beams.

  • Not sure. It may be unfair but throughout the race the situation is constantly changing, even if only incrementally. They used the 3k marker for Yates crash despite whether people were making time up. Same courtesy to the riders that crashed seems reasonable.

  • Apparently discussing whether to take times at the point of crash. No yellow awarded yet.

  • 3k has only ever been used in flat stages though
(Whilst I agree that it should have been neutralised, and/or Nairo et al should have waited)

  • @>>>>>> As our resident expert what do you make of Froome's walking technique? Could wider strides have limited time loses?

  • Apparently the organisers posted this an hour ago:

    https://twitter.com/i/videos/tweet/753587274277724161

    Luminarti confirmed.

  • You can't police "waiting" so it has to be neutralisation.
