  • If the single crown single sided fork had any kind of advantage, other fabricators would build them.

    It's a little more complex than just that, even if it may have more advantage, it's still not conveniences (calipers brakes, hubs, quick release, rack etc.).

  • Yeh, I never had to do my caad12. The frame already had holes for di2. One at right side headtube and the other is behind the seat tube for the fd

    Sold out of the CAAD12 Disc at work, hopefully look at it next week.

  • As my CAAD4 was stolen I plumped for another C'dale, this time a Synapse Carbon 105 5 2015 model. All stock parts at the moment although I have a fizik arione R5 on it's way as the standard saddle is a gouch botherer. Plus I am using speedplay for the first time rather then Look Keo pedals.

    The CAAD4 I had was dialled in for me, no aches or pains on long spins. As this bike has a slightly different geometry it will take me a while to test out different parts to get a proper fit. At this point my feet get sore and numb I think the speedplay's need some float adjustment. While the purpose of the frame is to provide a more up-right seated position I do prefer the front end to be low, I want to cut the steerer to remove the spacers and get a smaller headset cap/top.

    Here it is...

    The bike is so smooth on the road, very little feedback from the saddle or handle bars. The 105 gear changing makes a mechanical clunking noise, the tektro brakes are a bit soft and the wheels are make the bike heavy. I will endeavour to upgrade bits and pieces over the coming year.

  • If I ever get rid of my caad10 I'm getting a synapse. Want that extra few cm headtube so slamming would be comfy ;) looks and comfort.

  • I bought one of these in May. I love it. I've swapped out the seatpost and stem for FSA parts and am looking to do the wheels and brakes soon. I do love it though.

    Only issue I have is the shifting into the 32 at the rear has never been very good, and needs looking at.

  • Cheers. This frameset is the Martyn Ashton team replica from 1999 - it doesn't share his personal geo, it's based on the last M900 Beast of the East (hence the crazy 13" BB clearance).

  • Borrowed this Habit off a friend while on a work trip in Boston. Rode some local trails - i haven't been on an MTB properly since i last raced XC in 2012 so it was a bit of a learning curve all over again.

    Nice bike though, did lots of skill compensation.

  • Hollowgram cranks, titanium axles, what to use - grease or copper-slip?

    I've got some graunching/cracking noises under high load and I think this interface is the source.

    Titanium axle? Really?

    The alu axle is lighter and stiffer than a Ti axle could ever be.
