  • So, May in. FFS

  • No big suprise really?

  • Was Leadsom just a diversion?

  • So basically a malcontent handful of Tories who don't like the fact that the EU impinges UK sovereignty in some areas have fucked up the country and then all run away after seeing the mess they created like a group of 9 year old children?

A heartfelt thanks is the least they deserve.

  • So basically a malcontent handful of Tories who don't like the fact that the EU impinges UK sovereignty in some areas have fucked up the country and then all run away after seeing the mess they created like a group of 9 year old children?

That's an insult to 9 year olds.

  • Am disappointed that Leadsom is out now as I was hoping for a repeal to the Foxhunting ban.

  • Another Brexiter bites the dust. Are there any left?

  • And is anybody really surprised at this turn of events?

The Tories were going to win no matter what as they have a Brexit camp and a Remain camp both in power (hameron) and ready to take power (may).

At least we all have a few years for moving, whatever...

  • At this point I am not ruling out Theresa May also pulling out of the race.

Talk about a poisoned chalice, riding a hospital pass.

  • Dot gov petitions in "not worth the click" shocker. More at 10.

The cynic in me thinks that the dot gov petition site has two purposes:-

    1. Provide a convenient distraction for the instant gratification generation to feel that they are doing something rather than having them actively lobby their MP, march or actively protest. I'm surprised there isn't a simple one-click app layer (for iPhone and Android) on top of it to make it even simpler for some people to really feel like their sticking it to the system whilst drinking their flat whites, etc, stereotyping continues....
    2. Gather names/emails/addresses and political opinions against those identities.
  • Point 2. + President May =

  • May PM by Weds evening.. the wheels of politics seem to have lost their brakes lately

  • Apart from actually brexiting itself. May has said that she won't invoke article 50 this year.

  • May (no pun intended) be not possible anyway:

    http://www.mishcon.com/news/firm_news/article_50_process_on_brexit_faces_legal_challenge_to_ensure_parliamentary_involvement_07_2016

"We must ensure that the Government follows the correct process to have legal certainty and protect the UK Constitution and the sovereignty of Parliament in these unprecedented circumstances. The result of the Referendum is not in doubt, but we need a process that follows UK law to enact it. The outcome of the Referendum itself is not legally binding and for the current or future Prime Minister to invoke Article 50 without the approval of Parliament is unlawful."

  • NJS BREXIT - free hugs for remainiacs, pm me for leaver-love.

sure thing my panasonic frame is stiff, but it's never gonna be as stiff as the EU commission's aversion to reform and democracy

  • wrong answer vote again

  • If only we could!

  • if only we could have a libtard dicktatorship

  • But yet, we're left with a democracy where at least we get to elect our leaders.............oh wait!

  • Instead of this Brexshit paradise?

  • We don't have a presidential system, we elect parties and the conservative party has a mandate still fresh after a year. The leave vote had over 17 million votes, being the largest mandate for anything ever in the uk and it's not like the british population (in particular the young, connected under 25 bracket) were not aware of the referendum taking place

  • people keep saying that ^.

Genuine question, was the remain campaign with ~16m therefore the second largest mandate for anything ever in the uk?

  • Presumably the largest mandate ever for something that wont happen, as well. Unless we manage to drag our feet.

And I'm not sure how anyone could argue with that the Conservatives hold a mandate to negotiate the terms of Brexit, something that was clearly not on the cards at the time of the GE
