The xeccon one. Yesh.
I'm impressed, but I don't like all the wires. -

what model? linky linky?

In case anyone's interested, here's the extent of the damage inflicted on a Lezyne Macro drive after being run over by a bus.
The little end cap was completely smashed to bits.
I'm quite pleased with that!

Looking at these Planet X ones discussed previously for my commuter. Would a lamp still be recommended for riding within the city on dark nights or would one or two of these be sufficient to be seen and give a little bit of visibility improvement?

I bought new lights.
They are ace, so I'm going to rave about them:
http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Moon-Pulsar-Rear-Light_85584.htm
Moon Pulsar @ £13.49
They work off of AAA batteries, so no USB charging. Allows me to use rechargeable AAAs. It runs for 43 hours at the brightest setting, which is 25 lumens. But that's deceptive, because this is the little LED array thing that Moon specialise in and so it's a piercingly bright and very visible red line.
It is very waterproof, quite small, comes with a belt clip as well as a very easy to use quick remove thing. The belt clip makes it perfect for my Apidura saddle bag, as well as my messenger bags.
Basically, it's a bargain, has a very very long runtime, is very bright and can be seen from all angles, and did I mention how cheap this thing is?

I'm going to rave about them
I've been raving about Moon's COB arrays for years. The large emitter area seems to make judgement of the distance to the emitter easier for the people you're trying to reach (i.e. following vehicle drivers), compared with higher intensity 'point source' lights.

Saw this and thought it was a neat idea
LED Handle Bars https://learn.adafruit.com/led-bicycle-handlebars/battery-pouch
(obvs not perfect, more food for thought)

Tl;Dr
I've a budget of £100 for new lights. What's the best front and rear combo people recommend? Are the Lezeyne 600 any good?
-
• #4361
Whats the up to date forum reccomended rear light these days?
Must be fairly compact, rechargeable, and suitable for riding in groups and not blinding the person behind you. Thanks!

Lezyne Micro Drive? Dunno about the blinding thing...

I have a Moon Ring which is good for group rides. 3 solid modes and 3 flashing. I also think its brighter than the stated 25lumens

Not a bike light but if anyone is after a head torch then this is pretty good value, it does have one of those add on battery packs which isn't very clear but it's pretty bright and USB chargeable

Yup, just got a Lezyne 600 a fair bit larger than the 350 but chucks out a good range of lumens, including an eye-melter if you're in pitch black. Micro Drive rear light has a nice glowing function too.

Moon MK2 or whatever rechargeable Moon that suits.
Just received a LX-100 front to compliment mine.
Living where I do I have a massive collection of lights. Much like my massive collection of gloves. They nearly all end up disappointing at some point. But much like the pretty basic DeFeet gloves I find myself grabbing. Moon lights just kinda work. Nothing to shout about except an absence of something to piss me off (mounts etc.).

Anybody familiar with leztne 400 xl?
I just got one, but I don't think the end cap feels very secure.
You think it will stay in place? -
• #4368
Ride over some rough patches of road, or even better go to wapping and ride through some cobbles to see if that lid is secure enough or not.

Wot?! Actually ride my bike? U mad bro.

Bought these over the weekend:
http://www.tredz.co.uk/.One23-Extreme-Bright-1000-Lumen-Rechargeable-Front-Light_55564.htm
£40 from my local shop Sidcup Cycles, had the bonus of finding two lights and batteries in the box when I got home !
First impression from this morning was good, seems well built and its very bright...

it's getting gloomy in the mornings and evenings - want one of those cigar tube lights to clip to my lid.
Any recommendations? Ideally front and rear light in one unit, USB.
thanks.

Exposure Link?
-
• #4373
Thanks, just had a quick Google of them. Seems to be around £50 or £60 for the Link+. Little bit on the £ side but I guess a lot cheaper than getting squashed.
It's on the list now.

These are basically the £17 cree lights you can get off ebay. I bought one a few years ago and off road it's great, on road it's dangerous for other road users unless you use it on lowest setting and add some sort of cut off cap for the top to stop light spilling out everywhere. Used on flash these type of lights should be illegal IMHO
Did you get that one?
