• Brexit: Petition for second EU referendum rejected

The government has rejected an online petition, signed by more than 4.1 million people, calling for a second EU referendum to be held.
An email to those who signed the petition said the prime minister and government had "been clear that this was a once-in-a-generation vote".
It said the decision "must be respected", and "we must now prepare for the process to exit the EU".

The cynic in me thinks that the dot gov petition site has two purposes:-

    1. Provide a convenient distraction for the instant gratification generation to feel that they are doing something rather than having them actively lobby their MP, march or actively protest. I'm surprised there isn't a simple one-click app layer (for iPhone and Android) on top of it to make it even simpler for some people to really feel like their sticking it to the system whilst drinking their flat whites, etc, stereotyping continues....
    2. Gather names/emails/addresses and political opinions against those identities.
