  • I've got long legs. If I went up in size to a 58 then I'd have to ride a 90mm stem.

The stem can come down after I've finished the CCC

  • Is interesting...

I prob showing the same amount of post, but a turbo hides the clamp.

    Why U no campag?

  • Why you got your handlebars like that?

    Campag is total dog shit.

  • My bars are completely wrong.

I just cant be fucked to change.

As for campag, my 105 is failing but bottom end grass route campag is still goin stwong.

    :o)

  • I have to say I expected it to be a bit more "Waaw" than this. Maybe it's because of the "wrong" size (I share @umop3pisdn 's opinion that it looks like you needed a larger frame - and yes, I do happen to know something of bikefitting, classic bikes and riding them in the mountains).

I'm a bit disappointed because for me it looks like you turned a SuperCORSA into a semi-touring bike this way.

But I believe you're happy with the result and that's the most important, no.

  • U R Eddy Merckx AICMFP

  • Sure, the stem could be dropped half a Scoblebrick, mine are all at 2 on the LFGSS measurement of choice, but why would you if this fits you better? As it is, the stem is hardly an eyesore and is no further out of the frame than many bikes of this era were ridden originally, slamdatstem as a default position is a recent (ok, I'm ancient) development.

You also have the absolute right to be utterly wrong about Campag, although any modern kit works better than the old stuff.

    Just ride the bloody thing!

  • Hmmm. Wheels dont work with the frame for me. silver / chrome lugs with black hubs / spokes.... 9000 could work.. Just not with those wheels.I bet it rides good tho!

  • There's a reason why Eddy stopped racing the year I first rode a bike...

I just was referring to someone here saying that the 'negative' comment on the frame size comes from people who never ride bikes.

@Colin_the_Bald : they didn't have seatposts longer than 30 cm back than so having the stem that high would have meant the bars came higher than the saddle. ;-)

  • If I had a larger frame then the reach would be 20mm longer so would need to be compensated by either an inline seatpost (making my knees in the wrong position) or a shorter stem with a more negative drop to get the correct stack.

If you fit your bikes based on how you think the internet would like to see them then you're definitely doing it wrong.

This is a totally inane conversation.

  • Also, the seatpin is 300mm and it's 28mm below the minimum insertion point.

  • This is Eddy's

  • Of course it's inane, this is LFGSS and thus the internet, which is half the fun of it! Do you really find it difficult to change the position of your knees relative to the BB if all other contact points remain the same? Pure curiosity as all of my bikes differ subtly, or quite a bit in the case of my tt and track bikes, none has ever given my knees grief.

Wim, my career overlapped with Merckx, he didn't notice! Many UK clubmen of that era had bars only marginally lower than their saddle and, yes, it did look crap.

  • Saddle position relative to BB is pretty much the most important bit of bike fit.

  • #doingitwrongfor40years.

Conventional wisdom WAS that a tt position was considerably further over the bracket and rotated forwards, has all that changed?

I still seem to be alive (this is debateable).

  • This isn't a TT bike though

  • Errr, I had noticed, hence I said that my road bikes differ subtly and my TT and track bikes more so. Actually, I couldn't resist checking and the variance between 5 road, road fixed and touring bikes is 22mm, this has never given me a problem. The bike I had a fitting done for sits in the centre of this range.

  • Frame Geo vs Post size... 😀

  • Bike wash time.....

  • @Señor_Bear you're going to have every belm on the planet explaining that what you've done is wrong by setting it up to actually ride it.

As opposed to letting a niche of the Internet blow smoke up your arse about how amazing it looks and whether or not it's "pornworthy".

  • Ok, I'll drop the stem.

  • How's the flex? Never ridden a modern SC...

  • Fuckin' ignore 'em!
