Is going touring on my Chinese faux SMP full carbon just stupid?
I really don't like this spongy piece of tat that's landed on my doorstep and would much rather return it for a dynamic : /

Send Hell back, get Composit for £30 more.
They're the same as the carbon, just less stiff

Going on tour tomorrow, left it too late ; (

I'd take carbon + good bib shorts over shitty padded saddle any day

I have ridden my carbon for over 1,000 miles, I still don't trust it, but as long you're careful with the torque wench, using carbon paste (why not?), and aren't heavy, I reckon you'll be fine.
touch wood.
(I prefer to tour with good bibs and carbon saddle too).

Thinking of getting one of these.....I normally ride a chinese special carbon so tempted to get the full carbon one but the genuine one seems crazy expensive. Worth biting the bullet? Or does anyone have one they want to sell?

I just received a Composit for my tourer, still pretty $$$ at £115 but a good compromise between ridiculous full carbon and the shittier low-range ones. That said, I have no issue with my Chinese crabon one that's still on my nice road bike atm.

I've racked up 2000 miles on my Chinese carbon SMP - no issues at all to report and I haven't exactly been gentle on it. Wouldn't hesitate to tour on it at this point.

Any top tips of where to get a Chinese special carbon SMP? Cancel - bit the bullet for genuine one from Mantle

Does anyone have a trk for sale?
It's for the tandem, the saddle on it is Ladybits(tm) disapproved.
Very upright so not sure a pro is going to work I got that on the other bikes.

Yeah I've got one, literally never used, not even fitted. But not sure I'll have time to post anytime soon...

Tx :)
I need it soonish it was agony. Wee man loves the tandem he's asking me to do the school run on it :)

switched chinese crabon SMP for the genuine article in the form of a Composit.
Now getting mad back pain after about 40km.
Pray tell why this may be so?

Not the same angle / set back?
Or maybe one runs higher than the other -

havent used for a couple of months as I have only two bikes in use atm and I have two smp composites :)
works a lot better for me without the padding as I like narrow and hard seats

hmm have to say now that I took a closer look the shape isnt exactly the same as smp composit. There is greater amount of "valley" from the tip to the end of the saddle, and I cant get as confortable setup as I can with composit on bikes with more saddle 2 bar drop. Works great on more upright position.

Ok thanks ill wait with the conversion

Bought one of these a while back: http://s.aliexpress.com/Z7raUVJj
Fitted it today after my arse started suffering midway through the Dunwich dynamo. Only tried it on the turbo so far, but once I got it in the right position it actually felt pretty good. Not sure which smp it's a copy of, but I'll keep it on there for now and keep you posted.

Just got the premium option of my club kit bib shorts, the kind of short where the pad shapes into a man camel toe. Thing is, I reckon it doesn't work well with the SMP.
Of my various bibs, it seams the cheaper/simpler ones actually work better. Can we make a list of the shorts are the most SMP friendly?
The Dynamic so far felt more comfortable than the Evolution (just fitted one on my fixed wheeler).
