There are multiple fixed crits to enter in the UK, if RHC is supposed to be the most prestigious then its a chance for the strongest and fastest riders to show the rest what hard work and training really looks like.
There are too many "fixie crew" teams that are just out there to get some minor sponsorships and get a few ego wank selfies for instagram.
If more pro teams and brands join we will see money pumped into people that actually train hard, also a lot more technology will be put into fixed crit bikes as it becomes uniquely separate from track racing.
Dani King swept up because she has trained to be the best at competing, not to race for 5 minutes of fame, she's the kind of person that will inspire the next generation of the sport.
I'll definitely spectate if RHC up's their level, and congrats to Trimble for seeing it through and putting serious food on the table.

The fact that an Olympian was even aware of Red Hook shows how far it has come.

@Señor_Bear - we're you on the Cinelli last night DA Di2? Saw someone walking one - looked beautiful. Although nearly tripped over it on the way back from the kazi.

showing it's a proper sport not just some idiots riding track bikes on streets
Yes, that's right, the latter should be left strictly as the preserve of LFGSS members. :)

I'm enjoying your assertion that people who currently race crits other than Red Hook don't train or work hard.

Yeah, these guys are the WORST.

More pro teams and brands! That's what this shit needs.

I refer to RHC A. Because it's the topic of conversation and B. Because the conversation is about pro riders entering the fixed crit world specifically in RHC. When it happens in a UK only crit that globally no one has ever heard of you can enjoy my assertion of that.

Also enjoying your assertion that only pro riders train or work hard.
-
• #118
Are you saying that pro riders don't train or work hard? They are just magically pro riders over night?
-
• #119
Err.... That's not what the words say.

Clearly, I'm trying to discover why such a basic principle of training to achieve results is being lost here, it goes for a lot of things in life, not just cycling.
-
• #122
No aggro but I think it depends on your measure of training hard. I doubt Dani King would call your last weeks training sessions as hard.
-
• #123
What are you on about? Yes, pros train very hard. Amateur racers also train very hard, usually while working full time jobs, not having any professional coaching and probably not being blessed with the awesome genetics that make elite racers the very best at what they do.

She was spinning a smaller gear than the two girls behind her.

Totally, but I'm not training to become a pro cyclist, I'm training hard to achieve the highest level in a different but still a very competitive profession.
I don't see what's wrong with assuming that the strongest riders are going to complete in the most prestigious and global event of it's format. Thus attracting other high level riders and also inspiring the next generation of riders to complete in the same event and train their way up to be even better.
This is how racing works. The fastest wins. I thought it really enjoyable watching DK lap the entire field.
If enough pro interest and prize money then they'll have multiple races like the nocturne.
