  • Elise is something I would seriously love to own in the coming years. Very nearly bought a vx220 before buying my second m3.

  • Was on Stanceworks a while back...

Dude just sits in without wheels on. :oP

  • Nice cars just not very comfortable. Mr2 MK1 and mk3 better and cheaper as an everyday car.

  • The passenger seat didn't even move.

  • The ignition lock on my w124 just started to play up, hardly made it home today.

I really hope I can fix it this way

    rather than this way

  • Stuck barrel. Calling Mercedes tomorrow to see if they can get me a barrel that uses current keys

As it seems like a 5 min job with the right tool I might ask them to do it for me

  • See what a locksmith can do. On the 525 the lock broke/jammed and is a common problem. Took the new lock to a decent locksmith and he dismantled the lock and made the old key fit. But not the original key that came with the lock.

  • Common problem on this era Merc. New barrel is the usual fix. It can use your existing keys but new ones are nicer.

  • A W123 or W124 TE is the obvious answer. Both are fucking wonderful cars (but don't buy a really cheap one and expect it to stay really cheap) whereas the Volvo 240 was and always will be an ugly pile of shite

  • Lies!

  • New barrel fitting existing keys just ordered, just north of £100 so could be a lot worse. Pending an easy fit of course!

  • Seems like it. turn key to position 1, insert 2 x 2mm wire (ie coat hanger) and it should plop out, then the other way around to get the new one in

Though some reports talks about it being a right pain in the ass, so we'll see. I asked the mercedes-man if they had a special tool or something, and he said they just use 2mm steel wire "with a bit of wiggling" so should hopefully be ok

  • I had a similar lock barrel Merc problem, fixed it with graphite powder...have now lubed all my old car locks with it, works a treat.

  • Fitted my shift lights yesterday. From these guys:

  • Keep seeing updates from Lemans classic on twitter...

    My balls ache.

  • Got it working this morning with some varnish and plenty wiggling, so we're now 3hrs from home at a birthday party. I really hope we get it working tonight.

  • Nail varnish packed, new barrel arrives Thursday. Think I'll park the car for the rest of the week

  • Here we go, moment of truth. Come on Mercedes, I love you, it's time to love me back

  • Awww yiss!

  • Graphite lube in a spray can is magic. Powder probably better for locks that haven't got stuck yet, bit the spray has nursed many locks on a few more years.

  • Picked up some CRC lock spray on the way. Doubt it's ideal but it was all they had at the petrol station. Used it as I'll be replacing the tumbler anyway, so don't mind if it's harmful in the long run.

  • Saw an M2 out in the wild today, in Tottenham hale, those arches! Dinky little thing, the width makes it look even shorter.

Unfortunately it was that aqua blue, which doesn't look very nice in the flesh in my opinion, it was an automatic, and the driver was on his phone the whole time, so, not all good.

  • Works well in that colour. That's got to be the cheapest Ferrari model you can get now hasn't it, along with the Mondial (and maybe the 348)

  • not sure i like the mismatched arches
