Sad story about your Watanabe
why? Pretty much all NJS frames have lived a life of looking like that before any of us have owned them, drilling one and ragsing it on the street is actually a way more 'interesting' thing to do imo

Didn't someone on here design and manufacture a method of attaching a conventional brake calliper to a quill-type fitting that went in the bottom of the fork crown? @mdcc_tester will know...
-

@ Senor _ Bear ill try that thanks

Not cheap, plus pretty sure there'd be clearance issues

Alternatively, buy that one.

I don't recall in which thread I commented, but I do remember not being terribly keen on any of the designs I've seen so far. My advice was, and is, to get a road fork.

Wanted to share this months ago but couldn't upload the good photos as they were too large. Hope these come out alright:

Ahh, Bridgestone... I have a thing for those... ;)

only a 170mm..
same story here. fucked up first time installing it doh.
my tip; remove the self extracting bolt before installation. that way you can SEE the splines engage before tightening up. still using the nds with chewed splines now, and if I use above technique it still works, albeit with a bit more creaking

Bars could do with a little downwards tilting. Otherwise nice Bridgestone!

7710s work brilliantly if you do this every time. I have them and the splines are as new as the day they arrived. Removing the self extracting crank bolt takes two seconds and stops you fucking up your 350 quid cranks

I know that most folks prefer the drops to be parallel with the ground. I might try this, as you say, but find it really comfortable atm and also I like the look of the drops following the angle of the stem!

but people don't know. i actually found it out myself. is it recommended in the installation instructions?

I imagine it is but I never read them. I only did it at first because its impossible to tell if the splines were engaging with the self extracting bolt in place
-

I considered them when I was building but the Nitto bars curve into the drops too soon for my liking. I prefer a good flat section around the clamp sleeve so found some old Italmanubris that do the job fine.

Guys I am so surprised. Who would ever try to put the cranks on with that bolt in there? I mean is that even doable?

Salsa and swept back bars for summer

Certainly doable, but hard to get right (and harder to know with any certainty that you've got it right). I'm sure if just boils down to people being lazy

haveo- giro looks good! (i have mild sellers' remorse)

Hawt
We are always more sentimental over frames we've owned :-)
Talking of pervious bikes... that paint... Damn I miss it
