I don't think a longer is the answer to your problem, in fact quite the opposite going by the symptoms.
Sore shoulder and numb hands usually means too much pressure is being put on them, that comes from being too far forward/too stretched out and the upper body weight resting more on the hands/shoulders.
You actually want a more upright/shorter stem to alleviate that problem, not a longer one. -

Ha, I have had this conversation with my gf and made this point, but she feels she is too cramped and wants to be more stretched out. So I want to make that change and she can take a view then... cheers for input tho.

Well what do I know, lol. I do have a 100mm 'specialized' 26mm clamp quill, hidden bolt, apparently made by either Sakea Ringyo or Nitto. Head section is bang on, not a mark, down the shaft there's a bit of a gouge underside of the neck and some other marks but not horrendous above the limit line.
If it's any use to you say a £11 posted?

That would be amazing, thanks! PM me your paypal and I'll send you money and address? Cheers
Hello - I'm just looking for a cheap stem to change the position on my gf's bike as she's getting numb hands and sore shoulders. Want to stretch her out a bit further, so trying a longer stem. It's just for an old Peugeot step through so will be 1" I think. Anyone got anything suitable kicking about? Happy to come collect...
Cheers
