Has anybody had any issues with the chainline on Hollowgram cranks? I've got some SI's on my caad10 which have brought the chainline in quite a lot, and its fucking with my front derailleur setup.
The only thing I can think of that might have caused it is the fact that ive got an older 130bcd spider on rather than the one the crankset came with?
Cheers!

Chainline should be 43.5mm.
Road spiders are cross-compatible and give the same chainline regardless of Si, SiSL, SiSL2, Si Hollowgram, Si Forged etc

weird, i've just switched to 11 speed and am having real issues getting the front mech working properly, it seems that if the chainrings were a couple of mm further out it would be fine, but as is it isnt trimming properly at all because outer limit screw is so far in.

I switched from fsa rings to 2nd hand praxis works and as the chain dropped on the outer side of the rings I took off the fd and wanted to set it up fresh.
It seems that setting up the L screw on the small ring - (physically) big cog configuration runs out of potential for adjustment. Not a major issue but it just rattles slightly. Might be the disc rear 135mm?
I'm also having trouble with the shift from small to big as it requires quite a lot of torque on the lever. H screw is where it is supposed to be and the fd shifts with equal efford between the rings but the force I need to employ for the small -> big -shift is quite significant and more than the fd had on factory settings. Should I try to set up the fd a bit higher?

11 speed here on a CAAD10 working just fine with SiSL2 cranks and praxis rings.
But that is Di2.

@Borek & @negaatio I found this really helpful for setting up 11spd shimano FD.

Dunno if it'll solve your problems but is a good starting point -

No front mech on my CAAD12, hopefully that'll work.

set my ultegra 6800 derailleur up with the cable going round the wrong way of the bolt (bottom right diagram) is at shifted much much better.. if that helps
handful of others have done it like that too

Thank you for the kind offer Sir.
I've taken the plunge and purchased. Remembered that in a months time i move out of London and things will become hilly again and could do with the extra gears long term.
Monday has been and gone, where is Project 76?

Surprised this hasn't been posted here yet:

Nicest 'dale build I've seen in a while and interesting mix of modern and vintage, and a bargin price to boot.

It does look very nice.

• #6293
if you mean slacken it, that results in no/bad trimming in the small ring?
-
• #6294
Nope, if you're talking about the Shimano 11 speed derailleur, the cable need to be set at a higher tension that a typical front derailleur.
-
• #6295
yea I guess that adds some leverage as the cable is connected higher on the fd arm
ill try!

If anyone wants a BNIB 109mm Hollowgram axle or unused Compact rings off an SL crankset, let me know.
-
• #6297
exactly. unsure why shimano say not to do it, surely it depends on the frame

as much as i love the cannondale bb and crankset thread ( thread title needs a slight amendment by the way )
we should set up a cannondale appreciation thread
for, you know, pictures of cannondale bikes and whatnot;-)

You said it, the frame tend to make the biggest difference, some frame have poor shifting because of the way the derailleur was mounted as well as th cable entry.
TLDR; Shimano is correct, just didn't take in account of some frame being made differently (like the CAAD10).
Yes - all the cack-handed mechanics were taken out back and shot, and all the lose QR skewers were then tightened. And then the dead-cack-handed mechanics were issued with a pardon, in the great British tradition.
