  • New toy !
Praktica MTL5, made in East Germany during the Cold War.
I had it with several high-range (I think?) lenses

    • a 50mm Carl Zeiss Jena 1.8 Pentacon lens
    • a Vivitar Carl Zeiss (m42 too) 35-85mm 2.8

Now I'm waiting for all the Fujicolor that I bought on Amazon for few bucks :)

  • Actually I've got an olympus AF-10, £10?

  • My first camera was an mtl3 those cameras are indestructible.

  • I bought half a dozen with 35-85 lenses for TVEI photography in the 90s - almost bomb proof and certainly resistant to the casual carelessness of teenagers.

  • What kind?
Neither of them is pocket-sized small but you're welcome to either/both the 35mm cameras here https://www.lfgss.com/comments/13069257/ - the Kiev has gone so it's the Nikon TW-zoom or the Smena 8M

  • Yes,
Indeed it's one of my pros choosing this camera and lenses. It's pretty cheap on eBay, and evenmore it seems to be a really good "school" camera as I'm only learning photography at 18y-o.

  • Oops.
Didn't mean to suggest carelessness on your part...
Learning photography as part of mainstream education?

  • Yes pls! I'll PM you

  • @MrE, no worries!
Well, I would say as part of a grown man, for sure!
I'm studying in Khâgne, a Department of Arts and Humanities which incorporates two sections: History and Modern Languages. So analog photography could never be useless!

  • Oh and by the way, I'm looking for photographers who are still using analog as a living.
Maybe Eric Bouvet? Branco Prata for wedding photography? Others? :)

  • Many.

    Jamie Hawksworth
    Harley Weir
    Juno Calypso
    Sophie Green

    ... are a few i follow.

  • Huh I had no idea Juno Calypso used film...

  • Then it's worth asking it as I'm a newbie!
    Thanks.
If you have a little time, look at Eric Bouvet's work on the Rainbow Family (kinda 21th century hippies). His pictures are astonishing!

  • That fantastic hotel stuff is on medium format film of some kind. I imagine the recent shoot for the FT probably isn't. Not sure what she's upto now.

  • Cool. Yeah it's the honeymoon suite stuff I know.

  • Cheers!

Yeah I had a quick search online and couldn't see anyone with the same problem. I'll be careful to check that I'm not covering the IR window but I don't think that's the problem.

Yeah, if the pictures weren't so good I'd retire it but I'm feeling its worth the risk... Might just stick to using budget film with it.

  • Finally got some b&w developed from my trip to Hong Kong at easter

  • Couple more

  • Some Ektar and some ACROS 100...

  • The L35AF2 I borrowed seems a bit soft compared to the XA2, currently got a roll of something in the OG L35AF which supposedly has a very sharp lens so let's see how that turns out... Really hope it works fully.

  • I shot four rolls with one yesterday. It's quite a nice, quick camera. I'm hoping results are alright.

  • anyone got an olympus XA or XA2 for sells?

  • The Oxfam website has an xa for sixty sheets.
