One other thing to consider- By far the most common mechanical on TABR was cleat failure, easily overlooked, so if yours are getting on a bit it might be worth changing prior.
It's a fairly serious problem on rides through Islington, too:

What shoes did you end up picking?
-
• #1954
Sidi drago. Had loads of shoe hassle so just went for what seemed to be the best ones. Expensive but pretty happy with them.
-
• #1955
You could say that.
Where'd you get the batts from? I'd planned to get some Lithiums for my etrex backup GPS but looks like I'll need more now. I have a Gomadic and a 6400mah Anker cell but I'll probably buy a bigger LiIon cell for the Garmins.
I can't stand my Hope light. I like that it uses AA batteries but it just turns off with no warning so I'm always scared to rely on it. I'll probably take my two big Exposure lights - they're heavy as fuck but last for ages and stupid bright if you need them to be. Actually no, I'll probably take the big Exposure and use the Hope as a backup, because AA batteries...
Anyone know what that lens cover was that Mike Hall had on his TransAm bike? It's like a beacon filter to disperse the light more.

Hmm, wonder why it didn't appear in their light accessories list?
Any idea which number suits which light?

Their new site is a load of crap. Where the fuck has the "Specs" tab gone?!
Anyway... from https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/lighting-spares/beacon-1-exposure-beacon-diffuser-cover/
- Beacon 1: Fits Joystick / Spark / Flash / Flare / RedEye (8g)
- Beacon 2: Fits Diablo (16g)
- Beacon 3: Fits Race / Strada / Toro (22g)
- Beacon 4: Fits MaXx-D (26g)
Assume 4 might fit a sixpack too but probably worth checking with Exposure first...

ah balls. I can't follow .cc websites at work.
-
• #1962
trackleaders.com ?

• #1964
Clive is here still. And whilst he's working less than last year, I very much doubt we'll see his dot in this year's Transcontinental Race.
-
• #1965
I bet he'd jump at the chance to race his way through Europe.
-
• #1966
works. Phew.
-
• #1967
Hippy I wouldn't give up on a dynamo setup completely - what's the issue?
-
• #1968
The issue is I don't have a dyno... the Kinesis is delayed further so I've now got the Revelate stuff all over my S-Works Tarmac, which is cable/rim brake and no good for the disc dyno wheel.

Oh mate :( I virtually gave away my son built into an open pro - would you fit a 55 frame?
-
• #1970
Oh, that would've been handy :)
I ride a 55/56/57 but there's a 57 on the way so don't stress. I'm doing enough stressing for everyone ;)
-
• #1971
ok if it falls through- borrow the mootz.
lol I stressed like mad too, couldn't even decide on saddle. -
• #1972
Once again, very kind offer. Once I stop wanting to kill everything that moves I'll probably calm down enough to just 'get it done' on whatever the fuck I can make work best in the time left.
I still can't choose a saddle.
Problem is I TT on one and my road bike has another.
Problem with that is I've ridden both styles on 600k audaxes and both seem ok.
Problem with that is - I can't fucking eliminate one! -
• #1973
take the road one. You're welcome
-
• #1974
Easy -take both
-
• #1975
I like it less.
But the TT one on PBP shredded me.
So, actually I dislike them both.
Interesting.
Well done on your ride, BTW. Look forward to hearing more about it.
I'm using SPDs. Just got new ones (+ new ultra-stiff shoes) so don't think I'll wear them out.
