Good idea. I had an 83 230E for a while and loved it. Thistle green with tan it was. Lovely. I cut the springs in half and it still rode all wafty and nice.

Interesting. Chopped springs, such class ;)

Currently oscillating between the merc and a Volvo 240 wagon. Need a cruiser for throwing surfboards and bikes in so might end up with a brick.

A W123 or W124 TE is the obvious answer. Both are fucking wonderful cars (but don't buy a really cheap one and expect it to stay really cheap) whereas the Volvo 240 was and always will be an ugly pile of shite
