Do they come in 9 speed. if not friction is fine!

As far as I am aware, 8speed were the last iteration. And beware, even an 8 speed cassette requires 8 speed shifters as is requires the larger (lever) drum to pull enough cable to shift across 8 sprockets. On that basis, even an 8 speed lever MAY not pull enough to shift across 9 sprockets.
