They can be repaired by laser-welding, fortunately. On my one, the fixed bar was removed and re-fitted closer to the centre of the watch as one corner cracked. Not too much to worry about. Just don't smack it off anything.
Great, good to know. I imagine it'll last a while longer, seeing as it's been through a war and 40+ years of daily wear so far...
Can get spare mid-cases, so don't worry too much about it.
