  • Whats the clearance like on the Columbus Mud fork? Biggest tyre you could fit?

  • Classic CX clearance i'd say. Plenty space for mud. Clement Xplor 40mm with smaller knobs wasn't an issue.

Contemplating parting with this frame though. I really enjoy it but currently building a bike that will do the bikepacking/gravel/touring part better (plus 650b compatible) And i miss having a lighter (but still gravel capable) road bike. Been looking at the genesis datum and the likes. Unfortunately can't afford keeping both.

So if anyone's interested in adopting it in exchange of some coin then pm :)

  • V4 V4 V4 V4

  • Datum's clearance was disappointingly narrow when run as a 650. Lovely ride, but to be completely honest, not much of a revelation.

  • Good to know. I may leave 650b for my other bike and run 35mm Bon Jon pass tubeless on the new one.

Had a lots of fun on the carbon 650b bike, I reckon you're heading in the right direction.

I'm keen on the new rigid Cannondale Slate (being cheaper and lighter), so 650b 48mm on a lightweight package sound like fun.

  • That's why I'm holding off the build like yours. Waiting till next year for something compliant with 48mm that doesn't egg me on to ride fast but ride for shits and giggles.

  • @psee What size seatpost does this take? (I don't have calipers to measure :))

  • obvs 27.2

  • You've bought it? Plans?

  • Hope not, I only have 31.6 :'(

  • I have a 27.2 layback in silver you want one to be getting on with?

  • So millennial

  • That's it then. You'll just need to sell it on to someone that's got a 27.2.

Like me. Very much like me in fact. Go on.

  • :D

@psee Hopefully building it up tomorrow

  • Build plan?

  • Moving stuff over from the Giant to this, so 105 and mish mash of finishing kit.
Then replace ugly FSA cranks with Rotors once the bb arrives
Then replace boat anchor wheels with carbon/Mason tubeless - I've got some of the compass barlow pass tyres so will save those for new hoops.

Might also look to get a colour matched stem if I can find out what the actual colour was...

  • Looking forward to seeing it built again. I'm not sure about the exact RAL. I just sent them a photo of a grey paintjob on a breadwinner b-road that i liked.

A note though. Barlow pass were tiiiight on this frame.
Bon jon pass hits the sweetspot.

  • I have the 35mm ones - think they should fit

  • @Tenderloin should just continue this thread imo.

  • Bike is currently being built.

    Ordered bb for Rotors.

    Need a new seatpost
