  • Looks like you lot wasted a lot of valuable yentzing time, when will you all learn?

  • Glad that Ingerlund have gone out.

Plenty of partners would be mortified if we'd won last night.

  • at least we get our players back uninjured and ready for pre season

    come on you reds

  • An intelligent man with integrity...he's already failed. Just don't see it

  • england manager vacancy appears
cue harry redknapp and his spin doctors

    NO THANKS HARRY

  • Sterling looks lost these days. Gets the ball, stops, waits for 2 defenders to get closer, fucks about a bit, loses ball.

As for the this player and that player left behind, I firmly believe that there is no English player who would have significantly improved the squad. They were ill prepared.

  • Harry would have had the answer against Iceland, so long as it involved running around a bit.

  • To be fair, Rashford was the only player who fackin' ran arernd a bit and he gave the team a lot of energy.

Maybe Redknapp held the key all along.

  • H-Bomb in reply to @MultiGrooves
To be fair, I'd rather have the Premier League of today, than the old First Division, week-in-week-out. Fuck the national team

Ah...you're one of those that welcomes the whole Great Britain PLC cluster fuck we're in. I just wish people would recognise what time it is and stop blaming the wrong people.

Could have been posted in brexit thread^

Listening to the fallout killed me yesterday. Damp, soiled bedsheets abound.

  • It really was back to form for england after doing well in qualification, 1 good half and OK half and a whole lot of shit. Rooney and wroy what an inspirational pairing

Shown how to perform and work hard by Iceland who deserved everything. And I for one love that there kit is designed on the escape to victory kit.

  • No mention of Harry Kane? I don't think I saw him run once, his crossing was awful and his headers weak. Rooney was a bit like that too, but at least he played well in the group games.

Like what Waddle said about the players being a bunch of headphones. Might start using that as a term of abuse for someone who's a bit disconnected. To drivers: 'Watch where you're going, you fucking headphone.'

  • Waddle can talk, at least there's one England player that can score a peno

  • Can someone tell me how you can resign when your contract is up anyway.

I find it all a bit hilarious TBH. for more than 16 years and at least 4 managers, England haven't had a system, starting XI or vision even though you've got one of the best facilities and perhaps one of the richest national federations. It's all a bit pathetic if you ask me.

  • To be fair, Rashford was the only player who fackin' ran arernd a bit and he gave the team a lot of energy.
Maybe Redknapp held the key all along.

Maybe if Roy had brought him on 20 mins earlier instead of writing his resignation speech we might have done a bit better.

  • Why not bring Barkley on instead of Wilshire.
At least he'll have a go, get forward, take shots

So glad he never played actually

  • Also - Roy went on a sightseeing boat trip on the Seine instead of watching Iceland playing. What a fucking, senile idiot.

  • ^^^^
we've been pathetic as a nation since maggie left downing street and unchained melody was at number 1 in the pop charts

  • Robson and Jerome version, Obv.

  • Albeit a real challenge, but Spain r out in the same round.

What did you expect? To have gone on and beat the French?

  • The England team seemed paralyzed by fear. So often Rooney/Alli/Dier/Sterling etc would receive the ball in advanced areas and there would be a clear opening for a quick ball slipped forward to move play on at pace. But they'd never play it. They'd look at it, visibly shrink from the risk and look backwards to play a 'safe' ball to a center back. Potentially promising moves would repeatedly break upon the rocks of England's nervousness. This fear seemed to spread and suddenly the simplest of passes were overhit, free-kicks were shanked into the stands and suddenly the team were unable to trap a slowly moving ball.

I don't believe these players are bad - we know they're capable of more with their clubs - so it must come down to the manager and the environment he can create within the team. As mentioned before, you see the impact on the England rugby team of their first good manager in 10 years. The players are not crap, but we keep hamstringing them with crap managers.

  • I'd like to see Arsene Wegner have a go. We should get an interim manager in for the next year and approach him at the end of this season which will probably be his final one at Arsenal

  • Oh actually scrap that, we're all brexit, nationalist, racists now so only a Brit will do and not a nasty foreigner

  • shearer throws his name into the hat

  • I don't think they are technically poor, but English players in general don't have any tactical intelligence or game management. That doesn't matter so much when they play at their clubs alongside foreign players who bring that intelligence. It comes down to the weakness of coaching at every level in our game, rather than just at the national team level.
