Maybe they don't want UK back. Why would you invite rich neighbours to your party when all they do is bitch and moan? The thing that has been wrong with EU is the way big countries have negotiated perks to themselves. What is that stupidity of moving between France and Bryssels all the time??

Not as much as it's in their interests to tell us to fuck off and make it as painful as possible. France, Germany and the EU do not want countries to think that leaving the EU is an easy or painless option. It's in their interests to make it as unpleasant and as hard as possible, pour disencourage* les autres, to misquote Voltaire.
*Can't get this stupid thing to do accents - I know it should have an acute accent, but you'll just have to imagine it...

I can't see the Tory MPs allowing a general election when they get to choose a new leader of the country unchallenged ( 2/3 of the house need to agree on a premature election I think).
How much clout have we got in negotiating a new deal with Brussels? We are (were) roughly the second strongest economy, the English speaking international point of contact for business, good diplomats and generally decent people... It's in their interests to keep us no? I've just about got over my rage, I wonder if the continent can and conjure up some kind of group hug.
