Thanks.
The wheels won't be for daily use, just for when I fancy going out and doing a few 'fast' miles in good weather. I don't think 2x on NDS is an option, as far as I'm aware the rear hub is made for straight pull/radial NDS:
Is there any logic in using thinner spokes on the NDS in terms of helping to balance tension more evenly, or, does a thinner spoke become more tensioned, if stretched over the same distance as a thicker spoke?

The tension will be the same regardless of the spoke gauge.
thinner spokes will stretch more at given tension making the lower tensioned NDS slightly more resistant to radial loads.
You are however sacrificing lateral stiffness, which you need to limit the tendency of your super stiff rim to over power the spokes and move lateraly between brake pads. -

I guess it's unlikely, but has anyone built with, or recognise these rims?
Unbranded, carbon, clincher 28h
Here's a picture of the only sticker on it
Sorry, pictures don't give much away....

They look very much like mine from kinoko a few years ago.
Don't recall if they had the sticker.
what do you want to know? -
• #4806
Ah cool, just wondering if you could tell me what you thought of them, any complaints?
-
• #4807
nope, not at all. easy enough to build up and they hold up well to my limited use (see my Rossin Flaneur thread)
They weigh the same as open pro though... -

V cool rossin :),
thanks v much! -
• #4809
Yeah.
Branded as Broby carbon and sold back in the day in kinoko/Tokyo fix.
Narrow, easy to build, radial finish not that great.
Some were prone to instant delamination. -

Before I take the tyre off and find out.
Would my spare 22mm rim tape be fine for a HED Ardennes plus?
-
• #4811
Can anyone recommend a really good builder in central/south east London who would rebuild a rear wheel for me?
-
• #4813
Just built a pair of FLO 30...

Would my spare 22mm rim tape be fine for a HED Ardennes plus?

You're back!
Is there a replacement for "Who's At The Wheel"?
-
• #4816
What do you mean? The blog is still there
I no longer build wheels as I have moved away from London and I do other things... although I built these for a couple of beers... beat that... :-)
-
• #4817
Did you change hosts or something, because the bookmark I had went down.
And no, I can't beat that...
-
• #4818
Thanks man
-
• #4819
Thank you. But they only have 19mm and the mountain bike tape.
Change to something less nice?
-
• #4820
Yes, I changed host about 18 months ago... it's now on wordpress before it was drupal
-
• #4821
Thanks!

it's a tubeless rim, use tubeless tape. Other tape will crease and leave the holes uncovered over time... it's looking for trouble. Buy the 25 mm tesa tape on Ebay... this is the one you want, two layers
