  • For those in work can you bullet point the finishes.

  • I think this is mostly right:-

    • Mont-Saint-Michel to Utah Beach
    • Saint-Lo to Cherbourg Octeville
    • Granville to Angers
    • Saumur to Limoges
    • Limoges to Le Lioran
    • Arpajon-sur-cere to Montauban
    • L'isle-Jourdain to Lac de Payolle
    • Pau to Bagneres-de-Luchon
    • Vielha Val'Daran to Andorre Arcalis
    • REST DAY - Andorra
    • Escaldes-Engordany to Revel
    • Carcassonne to Montpellier
    • Montpellier to Mont Ventoux (Bastille Day)

    • Sallanches to Megeve (TT?)
    • Albertville to Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc
    • Megeve to Morzine
    • Chantilly to Paris Champs-Elysees
  • Who's going to France to camp out on the mountain stages this weekend, and wait all winter until next year, to make sure they have the best spot to watch it on their phone on Eurosport?

  • So excited - I've been to Chamonix to ride the past 2 summers. Good climbs! The Sallanches TT uses the road where Hinault won the world champs I think.
Emosson is an utter pig, preceded by Forclaz which is a pretty horrible constant almost 8%.
The St Gervais stage was seen on the Dauphine last year - nasty steep finish, many painful ramps.
The Morzine stage - presumably that's via Joux Plane?

  • TdF website slowly updating with 2016 details...

    http://www.letour.fr/le-tour/2016/us/overall-route.html

Nothing on the individual stage routes yet though.

  • There is a basic rundown of each stage here

    http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/racing/tour-de-france/tour-de-france-route-192041

I'm not sure where they got their info from, but am guessing it was revealed during the presentation, which i missed unfortunately

  • Probably me. My partners parents live about 10 km from Culoz. Win.

  • shame the ITT (non uphill one) is so short

  • I'm currently living about 20km from Forclaz, fucking yes!!!

  • Awesome. Gonna go up to the damm to watch the finish?

  • Dunno, I'll ride it a few times and work out the best place! Only been there by foot / car so far. Was planning on doing Forclaz this week though.

  • Forclaz is pretty horrible, quite a busy road and the scenery isn't that great. Add to that the constant gradient and long straights, and it's just quite a meh climb. Maybe it didn't help that the day I did it, it was about 37 degrees in Martigny.
Hey, found an amazing climb around there though, not as tall but way more fun: https://www.strava.com/segments/5022113
There's a cow farm with a cafe at the top, with incredible views and staffed by a couple of friendly, slightly ancient ladies.

  • Nice, my boss lives in Vens, that one was on my to-do list! Champex lac is current local favourite as they've recently re-surfaced it, along with Mauvoisin.

Anyway, enough of the thread derail!

  • Froome: 5/4
    Quintana: 2/1
    Contador: 6/1

worth a punt on Berty at the moment

  • Will be there for the first 3 days, goes right past our local villages in Normandy!
Cavendish for first yellow jersey, Sagan second, natch.

  • Assuming his new team get invited...

  • Richie Porte 20/1 worth a punt ?

  • What are the requirements to be a pro tour team? The team have a lot of talent, they can't just rely on getting invites..

  • Resurrecting this thread as the tour starts this coming Saturday. I would like to see Quintana get the better of Froome this time around.

  • Is there a fantasy league? Whoever won the giro one should set it up as penance for being better than everyone else.

  • I'm in Chamonix from saturday. I will helpfully post pics of some of the Tour route before any riders are there... and then go home.
    Timing isn't my thing, obviously.
