  • I'll try that.

  • Sry shite photo.

Never apologise you tumblr trendsetter you.

  • What's the usual bb height for otp road bikes? Just for something to relate to. I've never had any issues with pedal strikes, i would probably not with 650b either, but still worried it would feel like a lowrider. lal.

Edit: Found the geo for Yummygooey's Geekhouse with 48mm tires. Should be about the same bb height as his if i ran 42mm i reckon.

And then a custom fork and i got a completely new bike!

    42mm vs 32mm

  • On anything, except climbing mtb single trails with a lot of roots or rocks, 263 will be fine.

  • my caad has 71mm drop; 269mm height

What's the usual bb height for otp road bikes?

  • I have 260 on the 650b tourer and 255 on the 650b randonneur.

Low BB is awesome, even off road.

  • OTP 700c road bike is always around 70-68mm, the bigger the tyres the bigger the difference.

  • Cosine saddle from Wiggle

Which model? Reviews and prices are making me keen.

  • Endurance. Really like it.

  • I have fitted a 650b rear wheel with 42mm tyres on my carbon road bike (max clearance was 32mm with 700c).

It fit very well, just a couple millimeters of space on each side of the chainstay, if I can fit 42mm on my bike, you should be able to have 42mm on your.

  • Looks awesome.

I'm currently building a commuter that will fit 650b 42 so i might swap wheels between this, and that one, just to try it out. The rear wheel is not perfectly centered between the stays on the rychtarski, and the seatstays are not sloping/flaring outwards (see picture), so i worry that 42's would rub the stay. The Barlow Pass 38's i ran last year was tight fit.

  • 3 of mine Rychtarski frames have the same problem that the rear wheel is not perfectly centered between the stays. I only noticed it when I went with bigger tires. Did you ever fix it ?

I took this frame to one of the best frame builders here in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, USA. And he told me that in his professional opinion that
their rear end bike jig is off center relative to the center line off the bottom bracket and the seat tube. Moreover, he also believes that whoever builds the frames in Rychtarski is not checking the frame alignment on alignment table during the build process.

because it was to expensive to ship one of his frame from USA back to Poland I cut the Bottom bracket and the stays to show the Rychtarski crew what a wonderful job they are doing! after almost 3 months they send me a replacement frame but as was predicted the frame was not perfect.

  • That sucks. Sure more important when running rim brakes. It's not off by more than 1mm or so. There's no other issues so i'm still happy with it. But yes. They're a bit sloppy.

  • what kind of setup do you have? 1 cog and 2 chainrings? i was wondering about this kinda drivetrain, or even a 3x1, with a triple upfront, all the reading i have found would kinda point to a nono, just to keep a simple 1x7 ou 8 or 9 or whatever would be lighter and have more useable gears while still "cleanner" than the 3x1

what do you thing about it?

  • ok guys.... @tm @edscoble .... my bad... did not see the missing cassette .... actually i did see it was missing...
just was thinking about this concept of the single speed wheel with a triple crank, seen it in some mtb forums, but the conclusions are unanimous... too much fuss for nothing

  • Thinking 650x42 might actually fit. Awaiting some of these Gravelkings for another bike: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/13040191/

Tried fitting a 650b wheel. Hate having curved seatstays now. Had i only considered 650b when ordering the frame. But it might work.

  • Wowee, this is narrow!

  • crimp the stays

  • On the seat stay?

  • You are going to loose some paint unless you build a VERY stiff set of wheels.

  • Yeah and then there was that. Not much room for flex..

    Dropping the 650b ideas.

  • Time for V4...
