foolishly - a Mavic Aksium Elite wheel set
I liked my Aksiums, you must have got a dodgy one.
Fulcrum Racing Quattro LG should be, on paper, the least flexy relatively cheap factory wheel, but you're not properly heavy so you shouldn't actually need hench wheels, just ones which are not defective. Definitely take this opportunity to upgrade to wider rims though, and maybe even tubeless ready.
I just built a new road bike: Specialized Allez Smartweld, Ultegra groupset and - foolishly - a Mavic Aksium Elite wheel set. The rear wheel bends under load and rubs the rear brake (I'm 83kg and sadly no watt-monster). Now it has a wobble in it. I cheaped out. Mistake.
So I look at those, for £200, and they're rubbish. I list after Zipp 404 for looks/performance, but the price is too high to justify. What's in the middle?
I mostly ride Kent, so rolling hills. What are my options? Any recommendations?
Bonus points for an option I can get hold of in a couple of weeks as I'm doing the Etape and need to sort a non-buckled wheel out quick smart...
