• Is using the SRM with a 38tooth chainring and a wider range cassette a viable alternative?

  • No, I need a 30/30. I'll have to climb the Giau pretty tired and it's around 10%.
Ventoux on a 30/30 was still tough.

  • 30 on the front? You have a triple?

  • I think di2 cables outside is best option. And then put battery somewhere. Won't be an issue doing that really.

  • Sorry! 50/34.
    My mind is elsewhere.
    i need 34/30.

  • I've got an (unused, ahem) P2M classic on a Rival crank that frankly I should just sell because I'm never going to use it. Or rather, I'm never going to care what the numbers are.

  • Yeah sounds like your best bet, I would offer mine but its 130bcd so no good for you. 34/30 is 29.8 gear inches, so if you had a 38 on the front you would need a 34T cassette to get the same ratio. Which is feasible, but a faff and probably not ideal spacing beating gears

  • Thanks. I think i'll just run my di2 external and put battery somewhere. It's not really hassle.
Yes @Hovis that's un ideal spacing. I used a 13-30 cassette last year too. So I had middle cogs. About average speed, not top.

  • Giau is 10 kms at 10 percent. Very similar to that middle section of Ventoux, from the hairpin to a km or so shy of Chalet Reynard.

  • Yeah, thanks. I saw that on inrng when looking it up, so based my gearing off what I needed from ventoux.
    Grim!

  • Don't suppose anyone has a track p2m or SRM they want to sell?

  • I really hope I ride it in the daylight, it looks immense from giro. If not I'll have to go back.

  • Don't suppose anyone has a track p2m or SRM they want to sell?

Alternatively - does anyone know anything about using one of these: http://www.bdopcycling.com/Track%20Parts-ADAPTOR.asp

    with a 24mm rotor p2m? What's the chainline like?

  • I have one that you can have for free if you want to try it?

  • Thanks @amey, I will hopefully get the p2m next week.

@owlz may I borrow it off you sometime next week?

  • Thanks @amey, I will hopefully get the p2m next week.

pretty sure you won't but it is worth the wait!

  • Dammit!!

  • Yes. Definitely want.

  • If all goes to plan - I will have a pair of FFWD 50mm tubs laced to a tack Powertap for sale. Minimal track-only dry use. Comes with 14t and 15t cogs and lockring etc.

  • SRM , P2M, Stages, possibly that chainring based one from Powertap, any of the pedal meters etc.

I'd look at p2m first - the SRM looks better but empties your wallet and is harder to live with.

i'd like to stick to speedplay pedals

if SRM is a ballache then not too interested

what are the concersn with p2m?

  • what are the concersn with p2m?

None really - most seem to just get on with them.

  • Yep - only good things to say about p2m here. Not really sure why you would SRM unless you're worried about super accurate pick up of standing starts and very small differences in accuracy.

  • I really like my P2m, it's been just fit and forget.

  • What is the forum consensus with Quarq? Seems very P2m like
