9spd to 11spd

Posted on
  • Hey,

I've recently bought a rear wheel that has a hub that was being used for 9spd. I want to buy a new 11 spd groupset. Is it possible to simply replace the free hub with an 11spd?

    Thanks

  • Depends - What's the wheel?

  • It is a Ritchey DS Pro. I believe it came on a Boardman 2010 Road Comp.

  • googling suggests ................ it's complicated. try to find out exactly what the hub is, serial numbers etc.

    ?

    may also help:

  • I believe mine is the V1 on the HUB-ID-Sheet, which doesn't help as it says it is no longer made. All I can see as markings on the exterior of the hub is 'H 1'. I'll try and take it apart later and see if I can see anything else that will help.

  • Might be cheaper to buy some new wheels. Shimano RS11 are pretty bombproof. My 5year old RS10 wheels are still going strong.

  • Thanks, I think I'm going to take your advice and buy either a new rear wheel or full set.

  • A friend of mine has a pair of 11 speed wheels going spare: OE on a 2014 Felt B12, barely used.

If you're interested, I'll ask how much they want (certainly sub-£100).

  • Sounds good, thanks.

  • £75 including shipping.

Let me know if you're still interested and I'll get some photos.

  • Yer, I'm very interested, could you get some pics? Thanks.
