  • Basil Memories.

  • pump up randos at the perfect psi for your weight and they roll better than most expensive performance tyres even on the crappiest of roads. ive had marathons aswell, slightly similar to randos but they r heavier and more expensive. hardshell type tyres r ok but most of them have slick treads and make me feel uncomfy in the rain. Testing out specialized armadillos atm, theyre very grippy but they weigh a lot, treads a bit poorly designed for wet weather and they're not worth the £££££ in my opinion. All in all I vote rando. great looking tyres.

    Citation needed.

  • randos feel more supple on the back than most performance tyres that are kinda crap when on a low psi. the rubber compound probably plays a part too. not into spending money on ridiculously priced tyres when all im doing is skidin in the streets enit.

  • Max 10kg according their website

  • ah. my bad. they still suck and disintegrate when skidding too

  • Done thousands upon thousands of miles on plain Luganos. Don't need the current fad boutique brand for your rat do you.

  • best reartire is always used free tires from LBS! :)

  • +
nothing skids better than 'after roadie tire'
if i would recommend something new it would be Schwalbe Kevlar Blizzard, you just really need to want to kill the pair of those, so thick rubber and rolls great on both dry and wet. 18quid a pair on ebay.

  • mine took 60, fuck the system.

  • hardshell type tyres r ok but most of them have slick treads and make me feel uncomfy in the rain.

Why exactly? Aquaplaning? Isn't it nigh on impossible to aquaplane a bike?

Slicks are fine in the rain/wet and are usually a safer choice than treaded tyres.

  • Which 'performance' tyres have you ridden? If all you are doing is skidding in the streets its unlikely you have pushed them to their potential.

  • i'll say i own ribmos in addition to many other tires over the years. i found the ribmos to be one of the best tires i've had (of that type). Not saying anyone has to buy them. i am simply saying i've loved them over the past few years i've been on them. One sort of unique quality is that they ride very well in a wide range of pressures. One flat in 3 years as well, but that just may be luck.

  • if slicks are fine for you in slippy conditions then you're probably using a brake

  • What difference does that make?

  • Think he's referring to riding brakeless and having to stop/slow down in the rain, skidding on slicks in the rain can lead to some certified Brown Trouser Moments™as you gracefully slide towards the back of a bus.

  • i ride long distances too, sprinting etc. ultra sport 2, gp4000s, gran prix 4, sworks gripton, rubino pro, shwalbe one, durano, rimbos, lugano, basically ive tried as many tyres as i can and only a few compare to the randos in terms of durability, value for money, grip in the rain and rolling resistance on shitty roads in the uk. Try it out for yourself. 25mm rando on the back always!

  • exactly, i like to avoid such things ha

  • what size rimbo you using? might get one for my front wheel

  • Seconding so hard. Brakeless plus rack is so fucked. Had to work like that after a my front brake died yesterday.
It looks good for photos. but if you are loading the rack/riding hills it's undeniably rubbish.

  • Why did no one mention the Super Sport Plus yet?
But then again, what do I know about tyres.

  • Because they're fucking pants....well from my experience with them

  • 25mm rando on the back always!

if you hadn't proved yourself as a numpty already then this has cemented it. A 25c is exactly the same casing as the 28c but with much less rubber making it wear out a lot faster.
