Yeah, nice thing about those SA hubs is that as long the cable isn't slack when it's in 3, it should shift well.

So far I'm really impressed with it. Shifting is much smoother and simpler than derailleurs, and having a few gears with big jumps between them suits my riding much better than 2 x 10 speed or whatever.

Sturmpino!
Need to sort out cabling and gear it down (top gear is pointlessly big on 44 / 18) - but shifting is excellent.

Without the metal arm you can move the metal clamp(in the last pic) along the stay to tension the cable easy(so long as the route with the other stops allows the slack to be removed).

Keep checking the cable tension at the slackest, as once the housing bedded in, tension it up again.
Very tempted to put 3 speed on.

Basically, make sure it's always fairly tight even in the slackest gear?

New housing just need compressing for it to bed in, give it a couple weeks to check if it need tensioning again, and it should stay put.

Does anyone remember what pompetamine's were originally sold for? Mine got stolen and I need some info for the insurance company.

Anywhere from 50% to 100% of the list price :-)
I think they were nominally 199 for the frame and 49 for the fork, I paid 205 for both.

Thanks, much appreciated.

Does anyone know of a military green pompino with gumwalls? Spotted locked up in Hammersmith looking tidy

it was either a small or a medium frame, in a darker more natural looking green, but that is one of my favourite paint jobs on a bike let alone a pomp

My Pompetamine got stolen recently and I would love to build another one up.
Anyone got a frame for sale?

Too big I'm afraid. Not exactly sure if the one I had was a M or L, hence the attached picture for reference. Thanks though.

That's probably a large

Have you tried the white one thats for sale?

Link please? The first & only (?) one that pops up in the sales thread when using the search function is way too small.

this one
is a Pompino, not the Pompetamine @voxelwise is looking for.
Let's try and explain what I mean....
Complete with plastic guard thing
Metal arm and pulley unit only
This is what I've done - metal arm but no guard or pulley
Then this appears to also be an option - no metal arm
Are these all equally valid methods?
