  • There's an old trick used on the splines of motorcycle gearchangers etc. that might work. Obtain some sewing needles and loosen it all off and maybe even open it a bit more; then slide some needles into the gap between the "guts" and the stem's clamp then tighten up. The needles should gain some purchase somewhere and prevent further slippage. Once tightened you should be able to snap the protruding needle ends off with a pair of pliers.

    It's weird the guts are round enough but there's a gap. Bits of coke can seem to work a little but it's creaking like mad now O_o
