Gap opened up, now 60 odd miles.

Lael is taking a break at the moment. I think Steffan has got this, just over 200 miles to go.

Now he's taking a break and it's back to 30 miles.
As long as he knows where she is, he should have it under control. It looks like she has not slept much in the last couple of days so he should be slightly fresher. His higher average speed means he has had a whole day and a half more time off the bike than she has (assuming I'm reading it right).

Lael is just 5 miles back on Steffen right now. Exciting!

I can't see how her ride isn't discredited by the non solo riding.

Steffan went off route in Charlottesville, maybe he realised, turned around to go back (would have been 100 miles there and back) but has then met Lael on the road and realised there's no point.

To be fair, of that were case he could used motorised transport to get back to that point and then continue.

I was hypothesising based on reasons I've had to cycle backwards.
I once lost my rain jacket, I did 60miles back to find it. But no. Learnt a lesson that day.

They might be riding together now, their trackers aren't in sync so they look like they're down the road from each other even if they are side by side.
