A fun multi-sport weekend. Ran my first 5,000m track race of the season on Saturday, hoping for sub-16 but happy enough to match my road 5k pb of 16:04. Yesterday, cycled to Brighton and back, 118 miles and felt surprisingly fresh by the end but there were a few more stoppages than we'd planned. Just the single puncture repair in a group of 9 on the way down, but fun and games on the way back; after a comical ultra-low-speed crash, Ted's rear mech exploded. I miraculously managed to utilise my extremely basic mechanical skills, using someone's pocket chain splitter and an allen key to convert Ted's bike to a single-speed which functioned well enough to get him to the next pub, but being still the wrong side of Crawley a few lightweights called it a day and ordered a cab. Three of us soldiered on, I rode home and ate a dirty pizza and some chicken wings.
