does anybody have some real life experience with this chain
My real-life experience is that by the time you've imported this, you could have paid for a 3/32" drivetrain.
More seriously, you seem determined to follow this course so just do it!
You've asked for opinions and received them, but some lessons need to be learned in practice rather than theory (which is entirely valid).
TL/DR
Just blaze a trail and buy the damn chain already. -
Izumi Eco 1/8" Track/SS Chain
It is not a track chain. For a cheap chain, I personally find the Wipermann White Star (108) to be a much better chain-- and it is even cheaper (despite being, I think, still made in Germany). It is heavier than the Eco but also much stronger-- not quite up to the Izumi V but still quite suitable for track racing. If weight is really a major issue I'd look to the Gusset.. price the Wippermann.. and, of course, ultimate strength the Izumi V.
UPDATE: i may change to a 3/32 drivetrain in the future...
however, i stumbled across the Izumi Eco 1/8" Track/SS Chain during my research. It has a claimed weight of 260 grams.
