Can you not just upgrade your chainring, rather than the whole crank? Or go for a smaller cog on the back?

That is an option...

That is an option, is the size where the crank attaches standard? Not finding anything cheap though.

maybe: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Token-Alloy-Track-Chainrings-48T/dp/B00SBLP2TO/
still cheaper to buy espresso cranks and chainring together. -

Can you find your bcd? http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html
Will probably be a standard size, 144bcd or 130bcd i imagine. Then you should be able to pick up a decent chainring for about £20-£30. Less if you fancy hunting for a bargain.
Once you know your BCD and tooth count put a wanted ad here: https://www.lfgss.com/microcosms/550/
Also look on ebay, not amazon.

Espresso parts are shit.
Buy a new chainring - check the BCD (where the bolts are)
Buy a new rear cog - check the threading on your hub fits the threading on your cog. (cheapest easiest option) -

Thanks, measure the bcd and look for a chain ring.

Sure you want/need to change to higher gear ratio?
How many teeth does the cog have?
Many on here will advise to keep spinning rather than pushing.
Sugino Pista is probably 130 bcd, I'd get a decent chain ring from here to fit:

just upgrade your chainring
Thanks,

Thanks, got just what I wanted on eBay, fit it and done my first commute on it today.

They did, I posted another question about gear ratios, and everybody suggested... not to go any bigger. Rode it today. A bit less spinny, felt spot on :D

The Espresso cranks seem to be a fairly popular option. Has anybody used these Sunrace Sturmey cranks? I am currently using a Sugino Pista 44t which has served me well for 2 years and still going strong. I want to upgrade to a 48t for a bit more power basically.
Looking at two options:

and:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sunrace-Sturmey-Single-Crankset-Silver/dp/B01DZEPD9U/
Probably the Espresso will suit my needs, it's cheap as chips and my bike is a real beater for running around London day to day. If anybody can give any advice on these or present any other options would be much appreciated.
Also, as I said I want to increase from a 44t set to 48t, is this mad, or should I be going for 46?
Thanks,
