Really good asian fusion place down by the brandenburg gate called Samadhi, food was good and cheap: http://www.samadhi-vegetarian.de/index.php/en/
Loads of little places in Kreuzberg as well, worth checking out Happy Cow though as that's always good for recommendations.
There was a great burrito place as well about 10 mins walk from Alexanderplatz station, not all vegan, but the two vegan burritos they did were amazing, the vegan lover made me wish I lived round the corner: http://www.dolores-online.de

Fat Gay Vegan features fairly regular updates from Berlin. Worth clicking through them all:

Voner for vegan doner kebab and other good stuff, garlic tahini sauce mmm...
Delores is good for burritos too. -

Probably vegan. Under nourished ;)
Actually, it's the post-code, not the diet.

Can anyone recommend a vegetarian curry cook book? I'd like to get one for a friend's birthday. She's also a celiac, so gluten free would be a bonus.

I always recommend the RASA cookbooks. They're full of wonderful recipes and largely gluten-free, I think. (I don't think there are any recipes involving wheat, but if there are, there are only very few.) It depends on whether you like Keralan food, of course, but you can always go to RASA N16 and do a test tasting first. :)
'Fresh Flavours of India', the first one, has meat recipes in it, but enough vegetarian recipes (and some of his best) to make it worthwhile.
'The New Taste of India' is fully vegetarian.
The others listed on this page ...
http://rasarestaurants.co.uk/rasa_books.html
... are simplified recipes that aren't as good (especially as the others are fairly simple in the first place).

I would recommend one of the Rasa cookbooks: http://www.rasarestaurants.com/UserPages/ViewBooks.aspx
Or this one is really good (not just veggie): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/252392131649?lpid=122&chn=ps&googleloc=1006886&poi=&campaignid=270621186&device=c&adgroupid=16885268106&rlsatarget=pla-146650308786&adtype=pla&crdt=0

Haha, beaten to it, no surprises there.. @Oliver Schick is Rasa mad!

Forgive my incompetence and thanks for the suggestions but how do I buy the RASA books? I'm not in London so visiting isn't an option.
-
• #88
Snap. :)

They're going VERY cheap on-line, but it might even still be possible to order them through your local bookshop. :)

Yeah, I've seen some very cheap on amazon. I worry they will be a it rubbish condition for a birthday though. I'll get one and supplement it with some booze.
I'm going to buy the first one for myself as well.

Does anyone know a good insecticides for our garden? we've been trying to grow vegetable with success, but some planet look about to be covered in small insect, looking like ant.
-
• #92
If you identify them, you may be able to introduce other insects to combat them, or other plants that deter them before resorting to chemicals...

Good vegetarian recipes online without billions of ingredients? I'd say I'm a fairly competent cook, and the kitchen is v well stocked.
Have just moved in with a friend who doesn't eat meat or fish, but does eat A LOT of pasta. I'm getting fat, quickly!

If anyone is a former carnivore that still gets cravings, I can highly recommend The Vegetarian Butcher (if you can find it.)
The chicken, burgers and tuna are as close to the real thing as I've had.

How about these guys:

And if prefer could watch their videos instead of reading the recipes.

Anyone know the deal with restaraunts and take aways marking up things as veggie even though they include animal rennet cheeses?
Are they ignorant of the DOP requirements? Using a cheap alternative? Mis-selling?
In my old age I'm starting to get irritated by places explicitly stating that something is veggie friendly but including parmesan etc in the menu description...

Ignorance.

Cripes, a whole year since I've been on here! Before I'm totally forgotten then, I'll mention that I now do a spot of cooking at Persepolis in Peckham (yes, basically my ideal job): http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/persepolis
28-30 Peckham High Street
London
SE15 5DTWell worth a trip south of the river, Oliver ;) We're a veggie Persian(ish) restaurant with loads of interesting and satiating vegan dishes (The Vegan Knickerbocker Glory is extremely popular, for example!), as well as those which can be made vegan (and GF for that matter), and we're cheap.
Come in and say hi! :)

Anyone been to WGT in Staines? Billed up as fine Japanese dining. Has struck me as being a slightly strange place to open an indie veggie/vegan restaurant (this end of Surrey is all about its cars, meat and chain restaurants) but they're quite nice in there and the food is good.
@edscoble how is the veg growing? Sounds like you had black fly or aphids if there are ants up there with them. You can scrape them off and give the plants a spray with dilute washing up liquid to discourage them coming back.
Never been to Nama before and it's a hop, skip and a jump from the flat so I plan on going there soon... there's another new place just opened in Notting Hill that looks great called Farmacy. The breakfasts look pretty darn good... not 100% vegan, but looks like they have a good choice for us undernourished individuals. Anyone going to Spin bike show at the weekend?
