Couldn't stop myself trying a few bits and pieces on the frame. Tight clearances but everything goes together silky smooth. Loving this Zeus crankset.

Chaingang didn't go out this morning because it was raining - FFFS guys so its raining at the start how much different ca that be to when it starts just after and we stay out? Any way I hung around in the shed for a bit, used fine wet and dry to get rid of any marks on the seat post above the insertion line and repolished. Also had a test fitting of stem and bars. Waiting for my Zeus BB to arrive - there's a Campy Record one in there just now but the tapers are too short so the ends of the axle are too far down inside the crank bosses - fine for display but not good if its going to be ridden.
Cleaned checked and reassembled head set, all nice, uncaged ball bearings are a pain. Frame number is also stamped om the steerer tube.

Oh dear. This has ground to a halt. having thought I had found A matching rim and hub the rim seller has written to tell me they have searched and searched but that they cannot find the rim their stock list says should be there. Full refund received.
So now I need a 32 hole 700c Wolber Profile 18 tub in titanium grey. Any leads appreciated.

Snag with the rear wheel. The correct Wolber rim that I thought I had bought went astray and the seller refunded my money ( all amicable and no probs). Just yesterday I found one for sale and if it works out then everything will be back on track ........ Except that on 10 June I leave for 3 weeks cycling and running from Santander to Chamonix / Mt Blanc including a traverse of the Pyrenees. I'm back here for a week then I'm off to NZ for 3 weeks of winter riding house shopping and maybe a ski. So it might get done in August!

I have a regular geo SB 753, it rides like a dream.

Just won an Ebay auction for the correct rim (albeit on the wrong hub) £10 + £12 postage so perhaps problems are now all solved.

OK it has been a while - too much summer riding and touring plus delays getting stuff but I am back on it now with everything I need to finish to hand as the new Vittoria 600c front tub arrived today and the appropriate Wolber 18 rear rim has been built onto the Zeus Pista rear hub..... here is a picture this morning...
It is a seriously agressive position when you sit on it - hopefully Ill get down to Calshott for a ride on it next month after which I think it will mostly live on the wall. Can't work out what excites the most people the Zeus Pista kit or the Raleigh frame but it certainly gets attention.

Yes!
Looks super faaast. Im jealous of the suede arius imperator.

stem doesnt really look in place but rest looks mental.
and looks like with a shorter stem you can shift the arius a bit back, looks a bit weird this far in front on the rails. -

Any final photos of this with pedals chain etc??

Well this has been asleep for a long time and I have moved to the far side of the world but the Raleigh is now all finished with its full Zeus Pista crankset and hubs, Wolber rims and Vittoria tubs. I would like a shorter and more period stem for it, preferably Zeus to link nicely with the Zeus seat post if i could find one. Numbers on the bottom bracket (which is Cinelli) are 59.5 (probably the size although how that is relevant to this shape of bike I don't know) and SB8074. There cannot have been many of these and it would be nice to know a bit more about it from when it was new.
If the weather improves Ill take some better shots with the camera rather than my ipaddle.

Yes, just been down to Reefton for a bit where the weather was drier than here in Nelson. I was going to ride today but still wet, LoPro is in the window at LBS for a while so I can't get any decent shots although here is one of it in their storeroom

Well I couldn't get right up to it and after the shop guy measured it and it was obviously tiny there was no point getting them to lift it down (which may also have resulted in it coming home with me) but it looked liked a lugged steel frame to me with Zeus drop outs, chromed all over then part lacquered in purple leaving forks stays and lugs in chrome. Very very gorgeous. Its a bit like this one but much much nicer.
