Have you slotted the frame yet? Hear it's an area with big savings to be made.
-
• #378
N, unless your weight gain = more power.

Have you slotted the frame yet?
Don't slot, mill triangular pockets to about half the tube wall thickness
-
• #380
Well obvs I'll lose it again before the season starts.

explain the 200g weight loss of rotational weight .. is it just rims or rims + tyres?
-
• #382
Just rims. Same tubs, can't get any lighter without risking track tubs. 12 fewer spokes. Not sure if 24 lasers will be enough for the rear, might have to gain some weight with Comps on the DS.

Gosh, is it that time of year already?

Though having seen how much 44 CX Rays will cost me I should probably take 'on a budget' out of the title
-
• #386
Do you need 44? It is a hill climb bike after all.
-
• #387
Do you even sick watts?
-
• #388
Lasers are essentially the same weight/cross section for ⅓ of the price. Aero benefit of CX-Rays at HC speeds must be <1W
-
• #389
Sick?
I'm lucky to do 2 nowadays. -
• #390
Are CX Rays not stiffer?
-
• #391
Stronger, not stiffer. Spoke stiffness is just a function of cross section, since the elastic modulus of stainless steel is basically constant within the range of alloys and treatments under consideration.

Do you need 44?
For weight weenie purposes, probably yes. It's going to be hard to find rims which work reliably at 16/20 which aren't well over 20g a piece heavier than ones which are good at 20/24

Tubalar?

It was a joke. Based on cutting brake blocks and drillium.

Lighter than claimed weight!
Are these their U shaped or normal rim?
There's 70g at about £1/g to be had from the bars, and perhaps another 30g at the same price from the seatpost.
