They also do glitter and crackle effect.

tbh, I'm well down the rabbit hole of custom paint youtube. Watching people DIY hydrodip their AR15 stocks with a couple spray paints, a catering tub full of water and a screwdriver...

  • Ah, I am currently just beyond the custom paint Youtube phase and discovering that DIY paint can have a steep learning curve. You'll learn a lot through mistakes. I've done some testers with Montana Gold gold chrome, and you'll need to flat (sand) the frame back if it has clear coat/vinyl underneath or the surface will have nothing to adhere to and just slide right off, not to mention have a noticeable line where you've masked it with vinyl/tape since you [I] tried to fix it with more coats.

Here's some carbon forks for my Heavy Methil spray.bike project that's ongoing. Forks were flatted to begin with then given one coat Gray's Inn with Battersea misted over the top, then lacquered for protecting the F&F in transit. All good so far, but the next stage was where I went wrong, by attempting to mask the fork and spray Montana over the top. The first misting coat just slid right off, then any further coats - due to the amount of paint needed - pooled at the edges according to the laws of gravity. It's not totally unrecoverable; I'm going to sand back first the awful gold attempt, then sand back the lacquer. Next stage is decals which I'm having cut, masked and weeded. The aim is to paint through so that F&F are paint only, no vinyl, thus ensuring no issues with clear coat on top of the vinyl causing it to warp - I've read that some 2k clear coat can make your vinyl go a bit screwy.
