Ok so very nearly bought the the Riviera P93, even talked my missus into the purchase. Then I decided I needed an Epiphone Wildkat instead. Then I went back to the Casino then I accidentally watched a related video which was a couple annoying neckbeard trekies from a provincial music shop doing a double-blind test of Les Pauls. They were trying to identify an Epiphone, A Studio Pro, A 59 Reissue and a modern Standard by playing them blindfolded. I watched the whole thing and the comparative shitness of the Epiphone stuck out like a sore thumb to me. It didn't even come close to sounding half as nice as any of the Gibbos.
I know I only wanted the cheap weirdo Epi for shits and giggles really but then I thought about the lack of space I've got here, the uncertainty of our future housing and job situation and my impending 40th I started to ponder the wisdom of yet another "it'll do" guitar purchase. Even if it would be fun for a bit. If i'm honest i know i'd end up flogging it a year down the line. Buying cheap and cheerful is fun but £400 isn't nothing but it is a lot to drop on something I know wouldn't really satisfy my craving for the real deal.
Think i'm going to hang on and maybe treat myself to a proper treat on my 40th if the finances allow. For now though i'm going to withdraw and stop looking.
Yep. Definitely not looking...

How do the Epiphone solid bodies sound? Thinking about buying a 2007 korina Flying V, only AU$400... I was gonna cover it in white polka dot stickers and make it my Bryan Gregory homage... Daft, right?
Also thinking about trying this with my Twin, thoughts?

Also...
I'm gonna buy a cheap guitar and get it sent to my folk's place in Spain... Need to rehearse a load of tunes for a special gig a week after I get back to Oz...
Question is, which one?
I was looking at the Harley Bentons and thought nope, then thought it might be more fun to get a pink Squier mini Strat... I'd actually put that in my case and bring it home... Thoughts? Deffo not taking a guitar with me from Oz...

Weird how accidents lead to new obsession. Picked up the Yamaha baby guitar on sat morning and completely by accident found my fingers had made the intro chord to No Particular Place to Go by Chuck Berry. Been listening and playing Chuck Berry all weekend as a result.

Are ZZ Top Racists too? They look like they might be. BUt (40 years late to the party here) I've just twigged that Billy Gibbons is amazing.
I want a Cabronita, they are sex...
