  • hm. SO currently:

    Mid 2014 MBP Retina, 13" 2.8Ghz i5, 16gb.

Whats the likely performance difference to a new top end 'Macbook' with 8gb of ram?

  • ^ If the 2014 mbp has a ssd I'd keep it

  • Some pretty impressive software updates yesterday even though nothing stood out big time at least for me. The move towards a new file system is interesting though, sounds like it'll bring even tighter security

  • Any idea why a 13" 2015 MBP would constantly see Safari and Notes crash?

Click them and the UI opens but then stalls and have to force close. Having to use Chrome. Shudder.

Been going on for a month or so.

Thankfully not my laptop but a colleagues but with no IT department it gets left to me. Not a priority but if anything jumps out then let me know.

    Ta

  • I have this: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/6964232

Its not bad. Can handle things well. Havent felt underwhelming but dont mind maybe one more port (USB or USB C doesent matter) and slightly more power. I am very impressed with the overall package. So light and thin!

Will return over the weekend and get the latest one to test (and return obv). I am going to keep doing this as a way of punishing Apple till they release the new macbook.

  • Try booting in safe mode and see if it still happens. Then reboot normally and re-check.

    Is it running El Capitan?

  • This. And displays. And Mac Pros. Strikes me TC is just chasing the consumer and emerging (Indian/asian) markets. The new message features have the "visual overload" aesthetic I associate with Eastern markets...

  • Hmm....

  • aren't they the same shit as facebook has instead of standard emoji?

  • I'm switching to Ubuntu...

  • Omg

    Want haring emoticons now

    How?

  • If you can't wait until September, you'll have to download the developer preview coming soon.

  • Public beta arriving in July.

    Sign up here: https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/

  • Considering sacking off Laptops for now.

    Ipad air 2, 9.7" retina, 64GB vs Ipad pro, 9.7" retina, 32GB

I only really want to surf interwebs, check emails, and run trainerroad. The Pro is tempting because it may be my only computer. The air is tempting because I'm a low end user so may benefit more from more memory than more Power.

    HELP!

    ......(please)

  • if it's your only machine, i'd go 64gb

I'd also go pro if you have the £££ as it'll last you longer

  • 64GB pro is way over Budget. So is the 32GB really. But could stretch to that.

I'm leaning towards 64GB air 2. Maybe I'll be Rich in the furure and get a macbook.

  • What about keyboard? Think the pro has apple ones, not sure about the air

  • Yeah. Thats a massive Draw. I'm a bit old. Not a massive fan of typing on a touch screen.

  • Same here. But that said, I think any bluetooth keyboard should work, incl apple ones, so might not be a biggie

  • I've lost my iPhone, somewhere in the flat. Tried the find my iPhone app, and heard it buzzing for a few seconds before it died. absolutely no idea where it is.

  • at least you know its in there somewhere. worst is when you make it ring and you don't hear it at all...

  • the logitech k760 is a great bluetooth keyboard for mac, uses solar so no endless swapping of batteries. unlike my fucking magic touch trackpad which seems to last 2 weeks on non-use.

  • There is a rechargeable logitech trackpad, but it's too sensitive so you have to disable tap-to-click. Has anyone got the Magic Trackpad 2?

  • I do. Weird to get used to and force touch is useless, but now I've had it a while I prefer the action more than the old trackpad. plus you can disable the click noise in settings so it's almost silent. woo.
