Carbon front feels a bit precarious when locking up overnight, or hopping curbs etc. Rear is ok, but very old and starting to feel rough. Can't justify dropping a load of cash on a beater for fancy wheelset.

I come across better local used deals on wheel(s) than I do for most other track parts....so many cheap track wheels on craigslist. Like a standard Deep V with Formula/Novatec hub for $50. A month or so ago someone was selling a set of H Sons laced to Formula hubs for a little over a $100 but they were sold fast.
Cheap Deep Vs or similar are common...and they can take street abuse.

what was the original frame/bike?
-
• #14307
It was a Scott with full 105. The bike was grim but I kind of like the frame. So I started stripping the paint while using a different bike to commute on but when that broke, I had to put this back to use mid paint strip and its only got worse (better) since then.
Sram Red and I'm just hoping to find a Sram rear wheel to match the front and it'll be done. Oh and I'd like a nicer 31.6mm seatpost but that can wait. -

That frame has quite a lot of history and has been around the world. If I remember correctly he told me that it cracked in the bb area during a bunny hop contest in Thailand or something @campervangogh

This. Seen it in person last year when in Berlin and chatted to the man himself. A well used and loved frame, photos don't do it justice. T
