  • Yeah. Table salt will do! Maybe rock salt from a supermarket.
Was 50 deg for me crossing italy last year, killed me.
Maybe ride through the night and sleep when it's hot.

  • Bah, not even in the 40s ;)

  • Staminade or Gatorade or something? They sell that shit in every servo.

  • Pedialyte is often sold in pharmacies. It's a ready made version of Dioralyte.

  • Problem with riding at night is that there is next to nothing open- bad enough in the daytime with circa 60 miles between any form of civilisation.

  • Living off that

  • Good call thank you

  • Fair point.

Keep it up, enjoy it! Bet it's beautiful.

  • Sarah's ridden through the night to take back the lead while Steffen's had 6h sleep . Risky move, hope it pays off for her!

  • Steffen is on the move, and Sarah must be shot by now. He'll take the lead back when she stops, he's only 25-30 miles behind.

  • Could someone explain Jerry Rush?

    http://trackleaders.com/transam16i.php?name=Jerry_Rush

50 years old, riding east to west (into prevailing wind) and over 1800 miles ahead of any other rider.

  • ITT
    Individual time trial.
He started ages ago. ITT are in yellow.

  • He's riding an ITT, if you go to the main tracker page you can filter riders by status, you'll see his dot is yellow.

  • Lael overtaken SH and put some distance into her.

    Some conclusions from that!

Sarah stopped for 1 long long sleep. LW has just been stopping consistently.

  • Thanks. I was a little confused.

  • Thomas Camero is still on the road. He has only covered 513 miles in 9 days but he is 74 years old and still moving along the route. He has ridden for around a total of 3 and a half days so 9 hours or so on average a day moving time but longer spent each day from start to finish as he appears to be having breaks and enjoying the scenery. He has been making steady progress.

    Someone to inspire us all.

    Go Thomas!!

  • This is excellent.

116 days last year but look at the weight that he hauled over the Rockies.

  • Last year, in Vincenza, I was lucky enough to meet 2 polish guys. 60 and 67.
The 60 year old guy, was as lean and more tanned than I.
They were riding 200k a day, form Portugal to Poland. And I knew they were serious.

I'll remember them for a long time. And when I'm being lazy, I just think of them at 60 and 67, absolutely bossing it.

  • 15 months until I'm 60 but I doubt I'll ever "boss it".

  • They were probably great riders in their youth who have carried on riding albeit with a little less intensity and not fat middle aged men who took up cycling in a final desperate attempt to recover some vestage of fitness before an inevitable decline into decreptitude and death.

  • How come your tracker was showing 0 the other day and now you're at 1500mi?

We thought you'd not started or something.

  • inevitable decline into decreptitude and death

I started that in my teens...

  • Anyone know what's going on with Karl Honauld? Off route - did he break something or is he heading to civilization to bail or what?

  • For a fat middle aged man declining into decreptitude and death, you've done some very impressive rides.
