I imagine someone in the OPEN offices is throwing a colossal hissy fit this morning
that frame was developed by the guy behind OPEN
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerard_Vroomen
3T is launching a new gravel/adventure frameset called the Exploro that’s been designed with a major focus on aerodynamics. This frameset has been developed by Gerard Vroomen, the Cervelo co-founder who now part owns the Italian brand.

That's interesting, I wonder what the thinking is behind releasing this frame design from 3T rather than from OPEN or Cervelo...
-
• #181
hmm ye thats a good question. I would assume people would prefer their frame to be cervelo or open over 3t
-
• #182
Open already have a very similar product so would be odd for their lineup, and cervelo (I imagine) want to keep their 'race bike' image. Still don't get why an aero gravel grinder needs to exist but I guess it gives 3t a chance to create a new brand image

Does my 80´s cyclocross bike with victoria 34c tyres from dechatlon can be classified as a Gravel Bike? Doing it before it was cool
-
• #185
Forgot about that. Are gravel races a thing now?
-
• #186
Big in the states I think.

Gerard Vroomen is not affiliated to Cervelo in any way anymore. With a controlling stake in 3T (and co-owning OPEN) I think it's probably simply about maximising sales reach/potential (3T's global distribution, etc) of essential the same/very similar designs (albeit one is touted as being aero optimised).

Spamming all the threads. Panaracer Gravel King 27.5x1.75 on Hope Pro4/Stans Crest. Wheels meant for frame building project next month but for now I'm gonna find me some gnarmac on my Grade.

Looks good. May have trouble getting going, and then stopping?
-

650b gnarmac balence bike ftw. Thought I check to see if it fits before switching cassette/discs and fiddle with the rear mech.
-
• #191
How's the rear clearance? I've got the carbon one and the rear doesn't look like it will take much more than 35c
-
• #192
Clearance is tight, about 4mm each side on the chainstays. Tyres measure 40/41mm.

I really want to get an Open UP. Any reason I shouldn't?

datum

• #195
Because they're expensive. But nice to ride.
-
• #196
1). Datum is fugly
2). I haven't seen it on the Radavist -
• #197
It's ridiculously expensive? There are alternatives with the same features that will accept 650b knobblies but not 'oficially'.

Just watched this video. 650b goes waaaaay back:

Very lovely Alchemy Konis.

Nope. Already tried. Disappointing clearance on it.
