Hahaha whoops! :)
I think mine cost £6 from Halfords so it'll probably never go missing no matter how much I want rid of it.

My worry about those wire locks is that they could probably just get pulled apart (foot inside wire loop, hands pulling the plastic lock), let alone snipped by a pair of scissors. Yes the alarm goes off but by the time you realise and get to it they're already 50 yards away or it's already in the back of a van.
I prefer something like the Abus 1150 (cheap cafe lock). Would stand up to a little bit more, but obviously easily cut with pliers/wire cutters. Light and easy to carry (mine lives on a saddle rail or on one of the aerobars. Combination so no key to lose (although I've sometimes struggled to remember the number when tired.)

That Abus weighs more than my bike though.

I have one of those shitty cable locks. I use it for all-day riding. The kind where you're going to be with your bike the whole time but need to pop into cafes, toilets, etc... and just want to know that no opportunist can immediately grab the bike and ride.
It's good for a few minutes defence against someone with zero tools. Basically opportunist passer-bys.
It's useless for everything else.
I like the thought of an alarmed on, that would make it fractionally more useful. I doubt the alarm is required though.

Maybe bike ended up in the back of a transit - metal box = no satellite sig, no track.
Might go ping again when it gets unloaded, let's hope.

I've just ordered one of those locks with an alarm. If I'm going to carry one, I might as well have the alarm - as long as I don't keep setting it off myself and end up tossing it and having no lock as a result.
And I've given Amy's new bike fund a small donation as a karma payment for all the times I've left mine unlocked and not had it nicked.

Lee's tracker is back on, seems to have a backtracked to a hotel - not sure how he got there but the video updates on facebook from a day ago suggest he was super dehydrated (despite 16L water consumed) + the issues gabes mentioned earlier. Doesn't sound great.

Hang on, he's started moving again! Hopefully recovered and an update on what happened soon...

Don't know how to feel about that. If you're in such a bad way as to be putting yourself or others at risk you shouldn't be carrying on down the road.

Looking after your body is so important in ultra racing. I learnt that one.

Yeah a lot of the comments from others on Facebook and his "no one came looking for me" comment suggests, or possibly cements, a lack or lapse of understanding about these things...

Make sure your getting electrolyes. A lot of them.
Just use table salt if not electrolye proper.Nice work!!

Yes, can't find diahorrea replacement salts, which normally do the trick, over here.

If it's that hot there, it's gonna be hotter in southern WY and CO. It hit 46ºC for me around Hartsel last year around the same time you'll be through that area. Stay salty!
I'm planning on getting one of those for future rides, my last cable lock is still attached to a bench outside Kings YHA from BCM, 'I will just leave this here and pick it up on the way back through'.
