Praveena Thakor: I've contacted the sheriffs office they have been up there scanned around and see no signs of Lee. They will try again at first light. I've given his exact gps co ordinates and they want some more information which I'm gathering now and passing onto them. They will have a look again at first light

Yes it can - SPOT Trace can be powered by 5v USB. Maybe he wasn't carrying spare batteries and had to resort to dyno power.
