BB looks plenty high to me (could be the small wheels though). Also they came stock with quite long stems as per the re-issue as far as I know

The basket is heavily modified with undercarriage supports, new struts, an extra connection to the fork at the brake hole. 90% of the weight is straight through the axle and doesn't stress the frame.
