This now makes me want to watch the Sopranos all over again. Classic.

What are good options for watching films online? I'm still on lovefilm by post at the moment but that's now a tenner a month so I'm pondering the options. I want something that's HD films with surround sound (I remember in the past this used to be an issue).

I'm already signed up to Amazon Prime, it's OK but the films on there aren't particularly good and there isn't much new stuff (for instance I've got the Martian and Bridge of Spies from Lovefilm at the moment).

Is Netflix any better, any other options? I don't care about tv series.

fyi Netflix are putting their prices up soon. This combined with the clampdown on proxy server use in order to access the far superior US catalogue has me pondering my options also.

It's curated and you get a new film every day. About £30 if you subscribe for a whole year...

Mubi looks interesting but there's not enough on there for it to be my sole source of films, may add it if it's cheap though.

Acquiring things is surprisingly hard work, even with couch potato. I'd be happy to pay for a decent service but don't want to end up paying for 4 different things each of which have a bit of stuff on.

Re-watched the Hateful 8 last night. Enjoyed it much more than in the cinema. Drags a bit in the final third.

Secret life of pets was indeed fun, nothing super original but it kept the pace and some very smart camera work in scenes.

Symptons - the old BFI re-released film.

Very gothic, very old skool as in "have you not read the script characters" (deserted land house, creepy groundskeeper) but worth watching for the proper film colors/setpieces.

The American Friend (1977). saw it the prince carlos last night having never seen it before. wim wenders at his best. Bruno Ganz and Hopper put in wonderful performances. love this kind of feel shit movie.
