Yeah, I ummed and urrred for ages about wood vs laminate vs other materials and came to the conclusion that wood looks/feels nicer and thats what matters to me at this point in time...
Loads of people raise the issue of having to oil it or that staining can occur. I've not found any of it an issue so far as we take care of it. Good luck and keep me posted!

Perfect. Think I will get them to do the edges at least, need a curve for a corner cabinet as well. need something crazy like 20 odd metres, so its real wood or laminate, and can't bring myself to put laminate in.
